Net zero in Ag

I was at the Low Carbon Farming Show at Stoneleigh this morning, anyone else there ?

The first seminar was on AG Net zero, one of the panel was Harley Stodart who is the DEFRA head of climate mitigation, he said that DEFRA accept that it’s unlikely that AG will be net zero and some emissions will be accepted, it’s the reductions they have set, and are setting that are important as these reductions feed into the Governments national Net Zero policies

So my question is, why have the NFU set the target for the industry to be net zero when it’s not deemed practical by DEFRA and on top of that they have promised this unnecessary target 10 years early ??

It’s no wonder there’s such confusion when our “industry leaders” seemingly are setting misguided targets ??

Only went to the solar seminar as inheriting a small solar park from my late father's trust, Younger brother established it and now wants to pas it on.!! Some information from other stands but not really much to see. @T Hectares I agree they should make one large show.

The answer is because the NFU had a total show off at the top of the organisation.

The truth about net zero is every time you get close to missing one of the silly targets they get quietly shelved

Really? You think there’s a sane answer to that question?

No industry can be net zero. Even forestry and ag are just cycling carbon. All the other industries are just playing this absurd dance that every man and his dog knows is a complete sham.
