Nettles and Brambles

I would estimate over half an acre of that field is lost to nettles, there is a fence behind the nettles and the tree/hedge trunks are actually set 2metres back and ontop of an earth bank. The hedge/trees need knocking back as they haven’t been cut for 5yrs+
Ideal world I’d have cut the hedges back and then sprayed.
you will prob get paid for leaving like that in future !

For established nettle control we would recommend using the Pas +Tor agronomy pack, you mix 1l/ha Pas + 1l/ha Tor in 200litres/ha of water if using low drift nozzles otherwise use 300l/ha of water . The mix of the 2 offers good control of the nettles, apply when they are actively growing, ideally about welly-boot height but before flowering. The advantage of the Pas+Tor agronomy pack is that the chemicals are translocated down into the root system rather than merely control the top growth. Animals should be kept out of the field for at least 7 days, grass can be cut after 28 days to allow maximum translocation into the roots

Not licensed for hand held ?

No, the Pas +Tor agronomy pack is not approved for hand-held use. In this situation to control established nettles with a knapsack sprayer, use Grazon Pro at a rate of 60ml in 10 litres of water. This is enough to treat about 500m2. Wet the nettles thoroughly but not so much that the water droplets combine and roll off the leaves.

Working it all out from the air, I have 7 acres of brambles that are too thick to graze, I mustn't claim subsidy on them because of that, I mustn't destroy them because of Landlords (and my) desire to leave them as habitat.

Cattle won't touch them, easycare sheep don't get tangled in them, I hope to get some sort of payment for them under Elms when it gets here, it is ridiculous that I could get the subsidy on the area for grazing land if I flailed them.

Neither Grazon pro nor thistlex works very well on them unless it is the right day, I am not sure when that day is, just seems that it works sometimes and not others on areas where I am allowed to control them.

Just seen this....

From seeing what the neighbours Soay sheep have done on a will unkempt stream bank, they will work for you. Like bloody goats
