@ollie989898 I've got a new ley just gone in, there is a blanket of fat hen showing on part of it, is MCPA the spray to use?
Unfortunately a rather pricey mix with lots of white clover + chicory, plaintain and red clover, which I'm sure will be wiped out with the fat hen
better to be MCPB , lamb toungue fairly easy to kill especially when smaller@ollie989898 I've got a new ley just gone in, there is a blanket of fat hen showing on part of it, is MCPA the spray to use?

I was always told nettles are a sign of high fertility, and you do tend to see them in field boundaries where grass clippings have been left.

Bit of a blanket of fat hen!
The rest of the field and the headland was cultivated/ drilled about 10days after the bit with the fat hen, so i guess effectively stale seed bedded.
But the green bit is looking a hell of a crop of fat hen
Edit.... the fat hen appears to be in lines because it's bad where the 3m kale lines were previously, the former turnip lines are much cleaner
Can you get hold of a ride on mower? Soon have that nipped off.
@ollie989898 would it be ok to add hurler to thistlex to beef up the kill on nettles ??
Its a 17 acre field formerly used by the horsey crowd and its covered with buck thistles thistles and big clumps of nettles as well as the odd ragwort .
Would like to spray it before letting out calves .
If i had got possesion earlier i would have ploughed it but its grazing for this year

Think I would apply something to those strips this year to prevent seed return , stock as heavily as poss and see what next spring brings….there are no quick solutions when dealing with historical problems….. sadly !I am getting a bit disillusioned about chemical treatments. I quite understand these chemicals make the weeds look sick and appear to go down. But there is no Joe Frazier effect. They go down but sadly come back to life.
Here is a pic of some docks we had sprayed off last season with the recommended chemical sprayed by a professional ie not us
Looks like it was a foliar feed not a killer.
The lines are the drains we renewed not spray misses.
I am wondering what to do this year.View attachment 1037390
