Neuson 501s / Yanmar 3TNV88 not charging

Morning all, I've got another problem I could do with a bit of help with.

I've got a Neuson 501 skidsteer which is not charging. It has had a new alternator and battery, but it still failed to start the other day. I'm going to double check the ground etc today. I checked the resistance of the wire which carries 12v from ignition to alternator yesterday, which measured at 0.6ohms. Is that a bit too high? I was expecting less.

The only other thing which is different from when it was working properly is the warning sounder is not coming on when the ignition is turned to the first click. The warning sounder would normally come on with the oil pressure, oil temp and battery charge lights on the display after the bulb check. This might be irrelevant to the charging issue, but seems strange to have started happening at the same time.

Any help much appreciated.

Check the voltage at the battery and hold the contacts on while someone else starts the engine and revs up, you should see 12v at least, at rest then 13.5.. maybe 14 plus when the alt. starts charging.
If you are not getting an increase then check the alt. is getting power down to it when you switch on the ignition, there should be a smallish wire that gets power when you turn the key on, if you are not getting power down to the alt. then you should investigate the sounder circuit.
A few ohms resistance shouldn't make any odds to a decent alt.

It turned out we had been looking too deep. The cable from the alternator to the battery had broken off at the crimp, but was still held in place by the heat shrink... Very frustrating but all sorted.

I ended up starting from scratch and checking continuity of all of the cables. I give it a good pull and it come off in my hand.

Cheers for the help
