New basic Tractor choices?

I just had a lo :rolleyes:ok online, There ranges make no sense. 5700,5700 dyna4, 5700s then 6700. they only offer dyna4 on 2 small 5700 global models, not the 6700 global which would be a sensible option surely?

A right bloody load of confusion, designed I suspect, to take you into the clutches of a Salesman so he can work his magic while explaining all the subtleties and foibles of the range...

Well our local Dealers cover Zetor and Claas. However, Claas tractors, new and old, don't appear to have the most robust reputation. I know that this can be said about pretty any brand but they appear to have a had a few shockers from reading here and elsewhere and also from speaking to 2 owners!

Morris Corfield are not really Zetor dealers these days, since the mighty Claas moved in... ;-(
Ahh, fraid i cant comment on claas reliability, havent had owt to do with them other then a drive in one

Always liked the look of the hurlimann xm range there’s quite a few older models with loaders in my area that seem to cope well with stockfarmer abuse

Just starting to have a look at what is about on the market to replace the old Zetor in the Spring! Possiby the last one I'll buy so probs going to have a nice spanker again, as I am never really that keen on 2nd handers having seen too many clunkers come back into "life" for some poor soul. Never actually bought a 2nd hand tractor in fact...

Looking for a new GFW tractor, 80-90hp, 4WD, FEL, capable of a spot of moderately heavier work now and then, but only doing 600hrs/annum as the workload is spread over other kit. Reasonable cab and usual bells and whistles inside. Good seat absolutely essential for my back!!!! Electro-hydraulics and usual sensible back end stuff like PUH, 3-4 D/A spools.

I have looked at a couple of "stockman" tractors from the bigger manufacturers and been less than impressed, and when doing a small amount of research, do hear some stories of less than robust engineering from mechanics working on them!

Not bothered if it's non mainstream at all, I have a Kioti 50hp compact that has blown me away at how good it is on build! :) However their range is a bit limited at the 70hp+ end of the market. Dealer a stretch too, since Reco packed up.

Basic engine tech would be appealing as with such low hours, I question the necessity of ad blue and the like.

AS you can probably tell,I am in no way a tractor junkie, so I'd value any suggestions of machines to look at in the coming weeks. The old argument against buying "Eastern or Foreign" tractors is a bit of joke in this day and age, with mainstream tractors being manufactured just about anywhere such as the MF Global range... China I think? NH in Turkey and India? etc etc
Who are your nearest dealers and what do they sell? Always a good starting point.

Totally agree GTB, but well worth getting some ideas and thought from users as well as Salesmen!!
Personally I think customer service and backup is more important than brand. If the best/nearest dealer for those things sells a decent make then buy one of those.
Back on topic though, we have a 2003 case jx90u with a quicki q40 loader which has been faultless and if I was looking to change it I'd probably go for something as similar as possible. Case Luxxum???

Luxxumm is totally different to a JXU, it’s based on a Steyr, ZF backend etc. Closest to your one would be the Farmall C range

I have always liked the look of the Deutz range but know nowt about them really other than the old air cooled motors which were a peach in my Kramer! Dunno if we even have a local Dealer ;-)

Jim Price in Craven Arms or G Bryan Jones in Bishop's Castle. Both long established SDF dealers, although GBJ only started selling Deutz alongside Same in recent years.

You have a Case dealer near you? Where? NH dealer is busy your way and while not near, must be 40 or more miles on a round trip nearer than the Case dealer, if I’m thinking of the right one. Same tractor, different colour.
