Firstly, thank f they've binned that ridiculous swooping helicopter panning that seemed to take about 4 mins and sent the viewer into a coma without actually imparting anything useful info. Secondly, they've finally admitted that Scotland isn't a mere pimple on top of the mahoosive continent that is the south of England. Cornwall actually looks comically small when viewed on a proper scale. So far so good.

On the downside the British Isles is too small overall now. There's waaay too much Europe in view (little BBC in joke possibly?). Denmark keeps dominating the graphics for some reason. And there's too much space at the top of the map. I'm sorry to the good people of Lerwick, but the UK needs to be made larger so that we can actually see what's going on, you'll have to take one for the team, soz. In any case, I'm sure your local forecast is and will have been the one you watch anyway Lerwickians? The temp boxes are annoying now. They have a little coloured bar at the bottom which seems to be there for those of us that struggle to tell the difference between 0 deg and 25 deg. It serves to reduce the size of the temp number sadly, this needs sorting out quick.

My biggest annoyance though are the city labels. They're way too dominant. They either need binning or just take away the dark blue background to the label to make them less obtrusive. I can't actually see where I live, there's a dirty great big label stuck on top of us.

Anyhoo, what does everyone else think?

Another gimic at our expense.
Shame they havent improved the quality of the forecast. I would suggest that rather than absolute reliance on computer modelling they should look out of the window or step outdoors before making the morning forecast. That would improve the accuracy.

I agree with all your comments. Any weather forecast that doesn't lead with isobars and weather fronts is of no use to me.

The Met Office lost the contract to supply the BBC with its forecasts. No doubt we will lose the professional meteorologists that went with them to be replaced with 'weather presenters'. Young, cheap & female to save the BBC even more money?

Wife watches the Met Office videos every day, Monday evening she checked and they had uploaded Tuesday morning's o_O

Sort of 'It's a cold start to Tuesday and the wind is particulalry biting...'

So it's all pre-recorded.

Lets have a "forecast" not a bleeding history lesson.
I couldn't give a monkies if yesterday was wet, dry, cold, hot, let alone if it was the (insert one of the previous mentioned) days or the (insert season, month, year) so far!

Most people want to know what the FORECAST is!

And being extremely site specific, so weather for sporting events is a PIA as well.
UK Forecast please please please!

I updated the BBC weather app on my mobile last night.

The weather symbols are now so small it is impossible to tell what the weather is. The scree used to have four things - now they have five. They have added in the percentage change of precipitation. Supposedly for the next hour there is an 88% chance of precipitation. Which they then explain is a 'high chance'. Do they think that people are so stupid they have to be told that 88% is a high figure! :banghead:

They seem to have forgotten it is a WEATHER forecast i.e. the most important bit is to tell us the weather (not reduce the symbols to the smallest part of the screen).

If you have the BBC weather app on your phone, do not update it.

I'd like to know why the male weather presenters don't present themselves in an ogleable manner [grump], we'll, other than David Braine on Spotlight Southwest, obvs.

The new graphics are too small, and place names get in the way of the forecast, that's true, but the biggest irk so far is the speed of presentation. They've got to show the Vision On gallery of piccies, chat about earlier in the day and the day before, and they don't mention the important bits. I'd like to be forewarned about icy, snowy stuff when driving through Bodmin Moor, for example, and not about how many layers to wear at a sport match. They'd better be spot on come hay and silage harvest.

Bring back weather forecasts for farmers and growers, I say. The Countryfile one has been pandering too much to hobby gardeners, so I'll be watching the new format one on Sunday with interest.

Good to see our dear UK&NI given a proper projection, though. I'd begun to forget just how fractal Scotland is!
