New Bobcat Telehandlers

We've a brand new machine landed in at work, it's got a re designed chassis, new interior, re designed engine bay, all designed with a big focus on visibility and ease of maintenance.

I'm quite impressed so thought I'd share some pictures.

It's the TL38.70HF
3.8 tonnes to 7m
130hp
190litres a minute pump

To be honest its poss smarter than its massey twin
altho it does have the same Left hand power shuttle lever as all massey tractors.
Still alot of buttons scattered about the cab.
Does that right hand post not get in your eye way when looking to the right>?

We are telehandler hunting at present, looked at the Bobcat in MF colours thought in was fairly bulky and poor vision. Is the new one 38.7 a new design recently out that we may not have seen yet?

On a positive note the starter seems handy got at. Is 190 litres a min oil flow a big amount for a handler or just average
Weve recently gone from a manitou 627 to a 2.5yr old 38.70, 190l is faster than anything weve known before.
Transmission takes a bit of getting used to but i like the machine in general.

I’m hoping there’s a good arm rest there on the joystick side? Seems a fair gap behind the joystick and I ain’t seeing it? My arm is getting sore thinking about it!😂 looks good are they torque or hydro drive?

Agri models have both a Left hand reverser and right hand F/B on the joystick

I was going to add this on the toetip bucket thread.

Really hard filming with one hand just with the phone, if you look at the dash you'll see the red brake light going on then off as the handbrake does as it's automatic.

99.9% of the time even when the overload warning is going it'll still let you toetip, then push out a bit more.

So far wouldn't swap it for anything else 👍😎

Shame they still not included a compact telehandler in the range
The new R-Series range of telescopic loaders from Bobcat comprises:

  • Compact models – TL26.60, TL30.60 and TL30.70
  • Standard models – TL35.70, TL34.65HF, TL38.70HF and TL43.80HF
You mean like my TL 30.60 👍😎

Looks a nice handler, but still not what I’d call ‘compact’ been running JCB compacts 520-50 527-55 and currently 525-60 and even that’s a little long to be ideal.

Well that's great if JCB does one that suits you, I'm no expert on what exactly compact is defined as.

Sorry as it seems I misunderstood you 😥

I'd call mine compact obviously there's a super compact category.

I actually had every intention of buying a Merlo or an old Manitou had one nearly bought, tbh wasn't really bothered what colour and
definitely second hand as I was certain I couldn't afford anything new or even nearly new 😥

But Bobcat demonstrator sneaked up on me thanks to a good salesman, 3 year warranty & 0% interest 👍😎

We have a TL30.60 on a 20 plate so not the refreshed model. It replaced a leaky merlo 32.6 that had a 25litre a month hydraulic oil habit.

I was a bit nervous swapping from the merlo to a relatively unknown machine as the merlo when it was working was a fantastic machine but the bobcat has matched it in every respect, except in consumption of hydraulic oil!

ours has a 5 yr warranty and there has been the odd issue nothing that’s stopped us working and when it’s had to be repaired we have had a replacement machine from the dealer.

we are over 1000hrs on it now and certainly wouldn’t be going back to a merlo.

there are quite a lot appearing locally now so we clearly aren’t the only ones fed up with the old guard machines.

Used to run quite a few bobcat 2556 We used to give them some stick cleaning out poultry houses and when we were pushed they would go out into the field and load muck spreads as well. They was one of the better makes what would stick up to this work without overheating ( ps Used to use JCB loadalls and loading shovels as well)
