New bulk tank

Just been quoted 43k for new 18000 litre tank including part exchange.
reasons for looking at changing include missing out on 3 months of Eodc bonus amounting to 3k a yr and it costing us 1k in repairs.

still finding it hard to justify based on those figures.
thoughts please

Almost 10%.
Factor in more efficient compressors, the likelihood of more repairs on your other tank too probably sways in favour of the new tank.
Managed to get a grant for mine.

Agree with everything @vantage says but sounds strong to me, milk price influenced? Look again in the spring

Could you put in a smaller one as a main tank and use you current one as a second tank for the three months? I suppose you then loose the trade in value so might not be much saving.

If you’ve just spent £1k on repairs it may not require anything for the next 3 years? We got a new one in 2016 and it costs more to run than it’s predecessor as there’s that many sensors and an over complicated control unit on it.

Sounds massive money to store milk, surely second hand tanks available.

We are on a small project of adding this additional tank as more heifers joining the herd & hoping to save electricity by using the smaller tank when we start calving down and are drying off, and then run both at peak.

Will have cost about £2-2.5k to add. I rescued tank from being scrapped..
