We are looking at one to drive a Welger 245 chopper baler, currently using a JXU115 which will struggle when chopping really tough/dry first cut grass.Supposed to be 125/130hp under boost which should be enough, but is the boost really noticeable, havent tried one yet but hoping to get a demo one to try, seems to be a very large tractor for the power, but all makes seem to be,a Deere 130M would be their equivalent but at least £10k more.

A very good tractor . We have sold a couple of them recently and they perform very well.
They have added a spacer between engine and gearbox to give them a longer wheel base but the steering lock is very good making the tractor nimble.
We usually spec them with the low roof and narrow rear fenders. Chuck in cab suspension and 3 speed PTO and you have a good powerful tractor in not to big of a frame.
Boost is noticeable especially when using the PTO

Can't really comment about the newest ones but I've got a maxxum 130mc (boosts to 163) it's a real pocket rocket and you can really notice the boost, more so than with other makes of tractor I've drove.

Just bought a Maxxum 135 so in a couple of weeks will be able to tell you what I think. Reports are very good and the dealer I bought from said the 135 demonstrator was received very well. It will have to work alongside a Maxxum 140 which has been remapped and goes like a ttrain so the comparison will be interesting. I will keep you posted.

Just buy buckets of biscuits as you know your Case/IH rep will eat the lot before telling you his lies;)

There won't be much price difference if you go up a couple of models (within the same range) so I'd go for something a bit more powerful rather than buy the 115 and then have to remap it. Isn't there a Maxxum 150 now? It will be exactly the same size tractor just with a lot more grunt. Worth every extra penny IMHO.

Go for as much horsepower as you can afford, how often do you think "Wow I really wish I didn't have as much power...."

We have a Maxxum 110 which goes like stink for what it is, boosts to 132 and you really do notice it. Got a Maxxum 130 CVX as well, boost to 163 and that goes like hell as well, you don't notice it quite as much because of the vario but its a great tractor.

The new Maxxums 115, 125, 135 and 145 are all 4 pots but are the length of the 150 6 cyl because of the spacer they have put in. A welcome improvement for stability, but my god they are some serious money. 80k+ for a 145 CVX
