Just go buy a hobby used stihl which runs when you buy it, don’t buy spares or repair as it could have been run neat petrol. 018 181 171, 210 231 etc are all decent saws. If you can afford it look for an ms260 or 026 probably one of the best commercial saws ever made ( I’ve three)

slightly different, but have just bought a makita battery chain saw, only a small one, but it's really quite impressive, very odd to cut logs, quietly, but ideal for me. Petrol chainsaws, we buy off e'bay, parker brand, very reliable, and incredibly cheap, nearly throw away cheap, the last one, 16in bar, cost £60ish, inc vat, delivery, chain oil, 2stroke oil, and 2 oregon chains, and a bag, to keep it in. We are farmer use, rather than professional, and they do get a hard life, but work extremely well. And l could have bought 5, for the price of the battery makita, but that was a specific reason.

l can no longer start the petrol ones, disability problem, so the battery one, gives me a degree of independence, log wise, but the saw exceeds expectation. Battery staying power, 2 batteries, came with it, and that will do me, but copy/knockoff batteries, on e'bay, 1/2 price, of 'named ones'.
And, with other makita tools, on farm, batteries are inter changeable, a good thing, all we need now, is a makita cordless welder ............ one can only dream, but, you never know !
Back on the petrol chainsaws, years ago, we were given a two cylinder one, with a 40'' blade, soon saw why we were given it, on trying to start it, it could seriously kick back, and it hurt, in the end, we were all to scared to use the thing, got stolen one night, cleaned the workshop out, buggers, but the insurance put the value of the saw, several times higher, than what l estimated !
