bought 1 for £56 new on e bay. never arrived, but no hassle, they sent a replacement. chains were oregen. you had 2 inc, no problems with it, admittedly its only really used for fire wood, and pointing telegraph poles, as strainers, gets a lot of abuse, and little tlc. but it's a throwaway tool, pretty well 48 hour delivery, £56, inc vat, which can be claimed back, it really doesn't need to last to many years, brand alko? of course if you use it proffessionaly it wouldn't stand it.

Not sure on the chainsaw, we hav a handy stihl ms250 which has been faultless.
The wee sharpener tool tho is very handy, we don't use the saw all that often, but I've never been able to file a profile bac as good as the wee sharpener if the chain finds one of the many generations of staples and wire which hav been given an eternal resting place in the trees and hedges of the farm. Takes a bit of fettling to set up tho and u could loose alot of chain very quickly so only really use it when the damage is too bad for a file, but defo worth the 20quid!

Very easy to permanently damage a saw (2-stroke) with just one bad fill of fuel, so be careful with the pre-loved saws. Unless its a good brand with loads of cheap parts available and you have the interest to repair it.

But we do like a bargain ....

Any views about
Hyundai HYC6220 62 cc Petrol Chainsaw Bar with 2 Chains and Carry Bag, Blue, 280 x 260 x 889?
It only costs £140 including VAT
on Amazon or direct from the importer.

Not much point buying used when you can buy something like this with a three year warranty for this sort of price.

Agreed, if the warranty is good (and local) and you can get wearing parts if needed?

What shade of blue, if you dont mind me asking?

Not sure what you mean.

Anyhow, at £116 plus VAT less tax relief to eligible businesses, I make it costing less than £100 to buy. If it lasts two years before being scrapped, that's only £50/year. Bars and chains are no problem and Hyundai is a big name. After two years its probably cheaper to get a new one than to get a service done professionally, especially if it can be sold for about £50

A warranty of whatever length is of little value, if you have to send the saw away for the best part of the winter?
Just a thought mind ........

We wont even start talking about scrapping a 2 year old saw, when it should be just starting to find its sweet spot.

Some of the above sound a bit dodgy. Fully appreciate the cheap light use for a couple of years principle but the saw needs to be safe without key features failing. I guess the positive side of cheap saw will be the doasulikies not bothering to nick it.

Get the Hyundai from Amazon and have a good look at it at home and if it doesn't fit the bill, send it back before sawing with it. That's the advantage of distance selling regulations. My wife and daughter sent about a third to a half of the clothes they buy on the internet back with no questions asked. They don't like the style, the cut, the colour or the size is wrong, whatever. The same goes for chainsaws I imagine. Much better consumer protection than from your local bricks and mortar shop selling over the counter.

Why assume that quality is in any way compromised just because the price is right, without even seeing it before condemning it? If it doesn't look and feel right after delivery and a good inspection, send it back. With a big brand like Hyundai I bet its a keeper though.

I'l bet its a pile of sh!t though, looks to me the name is used under licence by a power tool importer, who is based in wales
He is the Hyundai power systems importer for the UK. He does gensets from tiny to massive as well as all the other Hyundai industrial, but not earthmoving products by the looks of it.

You really can't bet on anything one way or another until you have seen and handled the product, which is made very easy and risk-free by buying through Amazon. If you don't like it, send it back.
