New chainsaw for £80

My Hyundai brushcutter has had a real belting & has proved to owe me nothing over the last few years. Did another 2 hours with it today & I have to say it's the easiest starting 2 stroke I've ever owned (the exact opposite of EVERY Stihl product I've ever had the misfortune to experience!)

Thats correct technically a 10 yr old could buy one.
Im a real stickler for chainsaw tickets.
Who knows to take one with saw running without chaun brake on is an automatic fail. As is starting within 6ft of fuel tin.
And yo yo start.

I bought a petrol chainsaw from Lidl a few years back. Uses an 18" Oregon bar. Originally bought to take down a large 20 foot plus Leylandii tree, plus top a couple of others, then break it down to smaller manageable pieces. Recently used again to fell another large tree and cut up into logs for a wood burner. Still very sharp and going strong. The only thing I've noted recently is that it seems to smoke a lot at start-up, which clears after about 5 minutes use. Chain needs to be checked and tightened after a days use - normal I'd say. Otherwise I'd saw it was definitely worth the £80 I spent on it.

£79.99 actually
It is Parkside 45cm 53cc and is in the Lidl leaflet dropped of by postman... I am very tempted unless someone knows different
Also on the same page is an electric chain sharpener for
£19.99 again I am very tempted
I bought the Lidl one a few years ago. It has an 18" Oregon bar. Was bought to fell a large 20 foot plus leylandii plus top a couple of others, then break them down into manageable sizes for disposal. It did the job with no problem at all. Was recently used over the last couple of weekends to fell half another large tree and log up for a wood burner. Again no issues. The only thing I did note was that it seemed to be a bit smokey when first started up, but appeared to clear up after about 5 minutes of use. The only other thing was to check and tighten the chain after use - which seems normal practice to do regularly.
Anyway, well worth it to me. A real bargain at £80.

I have 2 Husqvarnas , an A65 and a L65 , bought them for £20 both of them from my cousins wife who wanted them to be restored !!
Lovely saws now ,start first pull ,and cut nicely ,despite being early 1970's saws

I stopped buying anything in Aldi or Lidl some years ago.
The ONLY thing I ever found worthwhile was the little compressor set, it’s handy for pumping bicycles and a car tyre every so often.
Other than that, I consider the tools etc to be complete crap.
It’s not so much that wasting the money bothers me but it’s the fact that they’ll let you down when you actually need them (be that a drill bit or a power tool).
Secondly, it’s this kind of short term “throw away” mindset that creates so much pollution & waste of resources.
My wife buys food there and that doesn’t overly impress me either!

The “cheap crap” product range isn’t exclusive to the German stores either, most diy/hardware stores are full of it too.
I try to buy quality to do the job and last one the long run.

I like the Lidl hand tools.. I've their socket sets in the cars.. Therye a step up from the Smash on stuff I have.

Titan Saw here.. Screwfix Super duper.

It's been abused no end.. It has a good strip and clean on a rainy day. Price range is its a chuck away thing.

Been cutting Sleepers with it this afternoon.
