Huge difference between Chinese look alikes and mainstream Manufacturers sourcing parts from China.
the look alike manufacturers are just copying deign but not Technical spec,.
Remember when the first JD tractors arrived, how we laughed at those lift arms a third of the size of the County equivalent and they had a habit of Breaking. Today all Western tractor use the very latest steel technology but it is expensive and you can be ceratian that most of these look a likes are made with mild steel, often called banana steel

If these machines are direct copies then standard oem parts of the machine copied will fit, we have a Chinese Great Wall steed pick up and guess what parts are hard to find although Alibaba has almost everything for them but also Isuzu d max and Nissan navara parts fit also, I know cos I fitted the rear bushes and prop shaft bushes for oem Isuzu haha, and don't forget Chinese machinery is less complicated than leading brands

I know a chap who is a bit of a guru when it comes to Chinese Motorcycles. He would be the first to acknowledge their deficiencies, but he rates the simplicity, and ease of maintenance. Spares are pretty well generic and cheap. The motors are usually a copy, down the smallest O Ring, of "Japanese" model. The big boys like Yamaha and Honda, now build there, and other source from China.

Admittedly, you would not tackle a Round the World trip on one anytime soon ... :)

Like the cheap spanners that bend like toffee, or rusts like it was left in a fertiliser spreader?

It's a bit of a sport in China to make a copy of somebody elses product and do it cheaper. I've seen stuff for sale an identical copy of expensive brand name tools, just with no branding. You know damn well if you contacted the factory they would put the brand name back on if you asked them, and put it in the branded box and send you a container load of such items and very few people would know the difference on the surface.

It will be interesting in a few years, because while many may dismiss the highly visible Chinese junk there are a hell of a lot of competent designers and engineers in China these days and the numbers are growing with their growing middle class. Many western universities have a large number of Chinese students and they are studying the hard subjects earning themselves science and engineering degrees rather than pissing about for 3 years doing psychology and art history. I don't think it will be all that long before Made in China carries the same weight as Made in Japan for high end electronics, or Made in Germany for mechanical components. Even now, amongst the junk there is some real quality kit at extremely competitive prices.

The Chinese quad bikes are terrible, basically so cheaply made to last a few hours. The chassis is made of chocolate!
I would guess the budget machinery is similar

Last time it was a false allegation that JCB engines were all built in China, as to their transmissions, if they come from China what does the transmission factory at Wrexham do ?
I have a feeling it was the JCB compact tractors which were Chinese built or something but don’t quote me.

Indeed transmissions are made in Wrexham near us however the rough castings could come from anywhere.

The quality of the steel is the difference. Chinese steel is absolute dog sh1t.
Chinese industry is basically impossible to deal with without resorting to a middleman who translates for you, all you can do is put your trust in what they tell you. In my experience the 1st off will always be good, after that its downhill all the way, will they cut corners on the steel - of course, do they measure with an elastic tape measure - of course. One of my staff spent three hours the other day rectifying chinese work, redrilling holes that were a combination of too narrow in diameter and not deep enough
