maybe a 90 and a 110 version ??

Land rover as making customers sign "no flipping" contacts I believe now - a friend who just had a new discovery was made to sign such an agreement just last week, stooped him selling to anyone but the dealer for 6 months

You must be kidding! The Discovery 5 is a particularly slow seller and hardly likely to command a short term premium. They expected that to happen with the Velar but that has been piling up at dealer's yards too. The Discovery Sport has been consistently outsold by 3:1 by the Volvo XC60, so LR had better be more realistic about Defender prospects or they will end up in the same position as Austin Rover or MG cars or whatever it ended up being called before the plug was pulled.
Most of their vehicles, specced up to compare with rivals up to £25,000 cheaper, are in the £50,000 to £100,000 price range, which is a vast cockup in my opinion, if only because many of their sales are cannibalised from themselves, not won from rivals. They peaked about five years ago and are now stuck between a rock and a hard place. Let's see if they have what it takes to crawl out of it using their renowned traction if not reliability.

You are having a laugh if you think the new Defender will be mid 30s. I bet the thing is near 50K with a few options. It will have the new ZF gearbox, heavens knows what engine and a very upmarket interior. It might look rugged but it will be engineered in the same way as the Discovery and be well away from anything like the original Defender.

It will be priced very near indeed to the Discovery 5 commercial and Discovery 5 passenger cars. That much is inevitable because it will share the platform and running gear with these. That means it is likely to cost between £40,000 and £60,000, depending on the model and equipment fitted. I doubt any version worth having will be less than £40,000 plus VAT, if applicable to a 'commercial' version. They will undoubtedly be offered with an average of £8000+ of optional extras fitted, especially in the early months. I priced a Disco5 commercial up recently with all the expected safety systems, tow packs etc, and the extras amounted to £12,000 on top of the basic vehicle. It gets a bit ridiculous when you compare JLR vehicles to rivals. However, it does depend very much on what you compare them with. A Disco5 is hellish expensive compared to a Hyundai Santa-Fe but excellent value compared to a Mercedes GLS or BMW X7

Not kidding - that contract is real

I bet if you could get a new defender early you could make money on it - demand will be higher than supply regardless of list price and if it’s any good or not I bet you
