I disagree Martin. We do a similar job . You can charge at hotel overnight. Charge at a fuel station for 30 mins while catching up on emails not answered while driving. Oh and benefit in mind is CURRENTLY very favourable . Imagine an electric Volvo v90 cross country with all electric. Off road in a muddy field you could lock al four motors to give a true 4 wheel drive! It would be unstoppable !
We have an old college mate that is 18 months into a Tesla 3. Before the covid issues he was travelling all over the UK. He is organised and does top up at any opportunity. He calculated and debated (mostly with himself) about the switch from a hybrid. He could have had cheaper transport but for a similar spec car the difference to drive a car with super car performance was surprisingly close. When driven hard it will eat the power but under normal driving he gets a good range.
Personally I am not convinced about the current green credentials but I might have done the same in his situation. Friend has also leased to avoid the risk of possible unknown depreciation and future battery costs.

Any views on the proposed baby new Defender ? £25K, sub 2L engine and only 2WD (LR say they would produce a 4WD version if enough interest). Surely if there's such a waiting list for a £50K vehicle, why would they offer a much cheaper version at half the price ?

You mean they are going to sell a small van? Plenty of choice of those already I'd have thought. They could easily buy them in from, say, Stellantis and add 25% to the price for the LR badge, get the front restyled and badge engineered and call it a 'Smooth-Land Road Rover Defender' or SLRRD [slurred] for short. Bit of a mouthful but you never know, it might catch on.

Certainly can’t blame them for that, it’s a shame it’s so successful really ......no bargains for a long time😪

The new 110 still looks like a total spaz chariot no matter how many I see on the road.

I priced up a new 90 on the configure option on land rovers website, it got to nearly 70k and was no where near top spec. For that money I could have a brand new top spec pick up, a decent second hand German sports saloon and still have enough left over for a nice holiday. Just mental.

I was looking again yesterday just out of interest and built a 90 commercial online and it came back just under 40k plus the vat for this one,not top spec obviously but not massively underspecced when I compared it to my disco 5 HSE commercial

Its just a colloquialism for an ugly car.

The 90 looks smart.
