Saw it going near Malton a few days ago. Appaling conditions. Shouldn't really have been in the field if the farmer wasn't so keen to get something drilled (s barley).
Amazed at how well it coped without blocking up. I don't think many other disc drills would have kept going.
Would be interested to see it alongside other drills in better conditions.
You should take it to the Groundswell event.

Whilst I don't doubt it will do a stunning job, I never cease to be amazed by how some consider a drill as good just because it'll chuck seed into a snotty field.

Ill be interested to see some pics on 1st June of what it looks like.

I have some photos from Agritechnica here. Didn't see anything fascinating. The important thing is: how reliable is it in long term operation (and stony soils), and how will yields be compared to well known drills?

2 things I like, mechanical simplicity and notched packing wheels. With the packing wheels do the notches help to fracture the slot side wall and allow lateral root growth and reduce water pooling in slot and slot shrinkage in wet/dry conditions?

Sorry not to update this sooner, this spring was a good test to see just how the drill would go in poor conditions, the demo that
Howdenshire Farmer came to was perhaps the most extreme. The field is on the route of the river Rye which was diverted back in the 1950's, no problem with the drains, it spent 7 weeks underwater in Jan/Feb and thanks to the 100mm of rain in April, the water table was just below the majority of the surface level, any dips were water logged but we decided that the rest would just go, it was the 27th of Apr. Spring wheat at 250kg/ha, decided if drill would run through water without making a mess would be better than jacking out and going around and it did, all discs and press wheels turning, we did unsurprisingly block 4 spouts. If you look at the picture, water standing all around the pylon and only just disappeared closer to camera. With time marching on and rain forecast for the next 10 days the decision to go was made as to delay looked like nothing would go in, rightly or wrongly?

Notice shadow of pylon looking down on to wettest area of field, Farmer and I are surprised as we thought this area was a total write off (I have a vidoe of it working here as well which I will try and post)

The majority of the field looks like below, proof of the pudding will come later, but the crop looks well and the forecast turned out to be right, with conventional methods we would have had to wait another 3 weeks.

Farmer is very happy and so am I, I think Howdenshire farmer will be quite surprised?

I await your comments.
