New elec connection legals

We applied for a new elec connection, well it’s a split into an existing cable we already have on site. The national grid info and quote suggests we need to appoint a solicitor to act for us? Having never done this before do we really need the added expense? The grids fees are already £2500 and that’s with us doing the ground works which is exposing 10m of the existing cable for them to splice into. I haven’t asked but I would think a solicitor would want at least £500 - £1000 to deal with it although deal with what exactly I’ve no idea?

What is their reasoning for you to have a solicitor? They gave you a quote to join to grid or is there fututre liability costs on your part that you don't know about ...me thinks your quote is missing a 0.

Usually get contestible and non contestible documents with supply application quote off National Grid distribution department planners to sign and pay.
Can't be for a 50kw transformer supply at that price??
