New farm, the journey begins!

I will grow spring barley when conditioms and price is right.
How will you know when conditions and price are going to be right long time between sowing and harvesting

I plant in October, oz harvest starts oct nov from winter crop 99.9% of barley is winter crop here, so i know price. It grows super quick here 8 weeks to waist high and in head, so have a fair shot at growing conditions.

Also after recs....
Trencher will be starting here on new block. Roughly 1.5km and 13 troughs to hook up. Will be plenty of nightmares around sheds and old house site with existing pipes....Trencher man used to work on new farm many years ago. He built the 80ft workshop and part of the stable complex. Has a bit of an idea where some existing pipes are.

The worst day today, my little Leo pass this morning, post morten showed choke from grain and hay goun into lungd, diet has not changed, on same hay same grain same grass, henry is fine.

He was like a pet dog, always with me and the centre of this farm so its a huge loss. I am devestated.

Vet said it happens but seldom people bring in for post mortem, rare and very unlucky she say, it appears he cough when sitting down amd it all went bad from there. See it in feedlots and when on pellets etc.

I bury him where the new house will be.

Taken a lot of gloss over the shift here now.

Rip Leo.

Sorry to hear about Leo, Ant. I only know about choke in horses and it really is just one of those things. I didn't realise it could happen in sheep too.

I suppose we know we'll lose them in the end when we make them family, but the end always comes too soon, and especially for Leo :(

I hope Henry is managing without his wingman.
