New farm, the journey begins!

What is In the new code of conduct for loadingng ramps? Is it more than just sidewalks?

Don't think it in coc, more what truckies who are employees are instructed to do as far as entry into cattle yards, especially "forcing areas". Alot of focus on bugle force areas now plus the loading race to truck, have to be ablemto.load by standing outside of race i.e. walkways with handrails, ladder , steps etc.

Only a matter of time until they rate your yards and wont pick up unless certain criteria are met. Aaa laaa on farm fuel bowsers.

So need to make sure my ramp is suffecient, and crush im not sure yet, arrow, clipex, leichts cia, thompson longhorn.

I like the go bob pipe stuff from usa as well but cant get here.

Crush budget, 10 12 k

Ramp 10k or will build.

Thompson longhorn have ramps now with concrete steps? For the cattle, what is idea of this? Do cattle not want to back up with this design??

A lot of cattle will baulk at the noise from metal ramps. The one at home is concrete sides and dirt /sand filled for this reason.
And no hope of changing the forcing yard either. Would require basically pulling the whole lot out (concrete railway line posts ) , probably shed included, and starting again......And that ain't happening.

Spent the weekend picking up all the left over fence posts and stackin size piles, took a load of waste steel from sheds to the recyclers.

Then stacked some gear im my shed! So bloody nice to have some gear out of the weather, its all old except for claas disco mower, but nice to have under cover.

The pets inspected new shed.

Concrete next, better get some boxing organised. Have to do 12 x 12 indoor area. 8 x 12 apron area. And edge slab for footings.

Hay shed will do edge slab whole way around as well.

Conc is $230 a cube 25 mpa here deliverd farm, ill try for a discount since ill need a bit.

And find some concreters locally.

Well the sged builders workef through the rain, roof on back wall on, unreal. They be finished Thursday nite. Weve had 30mm of rain and still going.

Nice to be spoilt for shed space, furst time in my life, well worth spending the money and get these projects done and have usable first class assets.

From time of order to time of erection, price increase roughly 10% so 8k over the 2 sheds, that pays for alot of concrete at $225 a cube 25mpa.

Excuse my nosiness!, but are the 2 sheds in close proximity to each other (as in the same 'yard') or are they in different locations?, or what steered you to put them where they are?

If both are still standing after today, the footings are good!!! Fark what a day.

Not is same yard

Machinery shed is in existing yard and positioned for b double truck access. Nth facing, i prefer east but it would have required alot of gravel to do that and i have enough to buy.

Hay shed is on seperate title, position on highest ground closest to road, set up yard for b double access to load unload. Eat facing.

New addition to farm.

Jazz, rescue lamb

Had a rough life, latest drama, dog bite wounds from farm i got her from, owners sheep dog, poor form having a dog wuth a muzzle and it falls off all the time.

Anyway i got her sunday, ahes tough as nails surviving untreated in paddock for near a month. She has 1 wound to heal and shes about right.

Had vet visit yesterday, had all treatments done.

She sleeps in her hut with blankets and shes up and about eating lol, blankets and all, shes pretty smart when she wants to sleep she wanders in to her hut on her own accord for snooze.
I can see her from my office so keep a close eye on her.

Id say she survived purely just by eating flatout. She has a temp so has some pain from wounds. Had meloxicam for that.

Wound doesn’t look too bad. I’ve had far worse survive here from dog attacks. Just watch for fly strike and maggots, assuming that’s a thing out there - if you haven’t given her some repellant I’d be looking for some (Crovect is what I use here).

You’d better watch or you’ll have a full on rescue centre there - and why not. Keep up the good work.

Cheers, luckily its winter, so flies here are zero, im using iodine to clean, and an antispetic spray, forget name, specifically for animals. Works well.

Its weeping a bit of puss but on the improve, last one that is pussy and open, rest are dry.and healing slowly.

She eats like a horse, some nutrient intake issues i believe plus keeping busy to forget pain? I gave her probiotic paste last nite and will do every 2nd day. Just to to try correct some issues or give the hope of.

Leo was hard to put on weight, cobalt selenium subcutaneous injection turned him around as he was cobalt defecient.

How much should a lamb sleep? Ive also found on melixicam they can get a little hyper.

She will get another penicillin shot, ling acting on wed nite.

She will be a bloody good lawn mower if she keeps this up!
