I am currently putting a new road in i have dug the top soil off and are putting 12 inch of crushed concrete mixed with stone 6 inch to dust down as a base and was wondering what would be best to blind it off for a top surface I was planning on using road planings but wondered what other people had used and how good it was. Thanks

I have read on this forum that road planings are not good for cow tracks (lameness). We have them on the farm road here, and they are excellent, they have almost set like tarmac. As the post above said the key to a good road is camber, we had an excellent digger driver putting in part of our road 20 years ago, with a camber and that 150 yards is as good today as when he did it. Funny that while driving round at work, I never see a road put in with a camber, except the forestry roads which always have them.

12 inches is a lot of crushed .What's the track for vehicles or livestock?6 inches of clean 6f5 stone with terram on firm soil with a blind off shale scalpings fine here for vehicles and cows.
