New grain trailer spec/options

Deere 6430

Wanting to get a new grain trailer and want it to be future proof and legal as much as possible

So far 14 ton and standard stuff such as grain chute sprung drawbar roll over sheet etc front window

10 stud full commercial axles with s cam brakes and proper slack adjusters
Air over hydraulic brakes
ABS and load sensing valve
High level lights and mud flaps
LED lights
Rear beacon
Reflective markers on the sides

Is there anything else i should be looking for to be added? Such as
Crash bars along the sides under the body?
Powered side marker lights?
Mud guards?

Anyone add anything I’ve missed or not thought about?

I would add - make sure the air and the oil brakes meet 50% requirements and both have lsv. A lot have under rated oil brakes which doesn’t do the shoes any good.

I thought side marker lights were a requirement anyway?

I would also have truck style wand marker lights mounted right at the rear of the trailer - easier to judge the back in the mirror.

A valve so you can’t open the tailgate until the trailer is tipped slightly.

Rear bumper with no flat bits so grain doesn’t sit on it.

Wouldn’t bother with cyclist protection on the side. Just reduces payload. They’re not even a requirement on some trucks.

Bolt on towing eye and stone chip paint as others have said.

I was buckraking our silage yesterday and contractor had a Bailey 16t with full size plastic mud guards. Noticed an older Richard Western they were also using had rust under the body but only above the wheels. I assume this must be from the paint being damaged from stuff thrown of the wheels and this would not be a problem on the Bailey due to the plastic mudguards.

I am looking a very similar spec with the addition of air suspension. Also seriously considering an aluminium body as it will be a grain only trailer and this reduces the weight considerably. I am trying to find a way of getting as much payload within the max trailer weight of 18.3t. I’d have under-ride protection especially if regularly going through busy towns/villages.

remember to light spec blue paint and Stewart stickers ! - best trailers on the market right now by a mile IMO

Maybe but in the East they pulled the plug on Pecks and went to a Claas dealer that aren’t renowned for service unless you have a combine.
Have seen an awful lot more new Bailey and Larringtons around here this year than Stewarts.

Might be something to do with price as well - Stewarts are expensive ............... but worth it, wouldn't touch the other brands you mention personally
