New grain trailer. What is your choice

Which trailers are the lightest? Find the Bailey 14t root crops we have rather over engineered which means we are towing 6.5t of dead weight around.
It’s a very fine line between over engineered and not standing up to the job
a lot of Ag stuff is over engineered to allow for those who push stuff to its limits and beyond

You would think that with today’s cad that could make them as strong but lighter, may be alloy would be worth it like the grain bulkers.
I think that todays trailers are designed far better than their predecessors, tow far better, stop better, and are genuinely stronger and lighter. You wouldn’t have 16t trailers in the 90’s as nothing would pull them! Don’t get your fascination with a light trailer, you’d be to first one with his toys all over the carpet on phone to dealer if your new trailer broke in half fully loaded as the wheel attendant was flying down road at 50km/h...

Surprised no one has mentioned AW Trailers. Have a look at the Ultima range

I had 3 monocoque AWs in Dorset. Excellent trailers. The Ultimas are even better built.

2 x 18t Stewart & 3 x 14t Marstons up here. The Marstons are too softly sprung but ride better as a result. I wouldn't want to be hauling silage with them.
