Alot easier to use as standard tyre size of average tractor now would be something r38 and with a tyre that tall then no 4ft head will be seen with any tractor but a 5ft is alot easier to control on a vertical cut as way better to match up as cuts are a foot higher .
Topping also is easier in two year growth + as normally with a 4ft head you will only cut 2.5-3ft before losing alot of uncut bouncing outa the end of the head where as with a 5ft head the cutting width will be around 4ft

McConnel Pa55 with 5’ head here. It is brilliant for hedge cutting but it will push you out further in the road if doing narrow verges alongside. The way round this is to use an orbital and slew it round behind. Your cutting hours should drop considerably if you are currently on 4’.
