New Highway code rules ffs

I think your interpretation of the regs is a bit out there, mine is, if the junction is controlled by lights the lights control who has the priorities.
I'm talking pedestrian crossings , if there is a paved bit on the kerb with no lights you are now suppose to stop
This one , to be honest I am not sure what the old rule was

No, that wouldn't apply to the changes - it's only an issue at a junction and not really a rule change at all. If a pedestrian is on a minor road and the car turns on to it from the major one, then the pedestrian has right of way. Just as they always have had.

Or, from the .gov website:

The updated code clarifies that:
  • when people are crossing or waiting to cross at a junction, other traffic should give way
  • if people have started crossing and traffic wants to turn into the road, the people crossing have priority and the traffic should give way
  • people driving, riding a motorcycle or cycling must give way to people on a zebra crossing and people walking and cycling on a parallel crossing
A parallel crossing is similar to a zebra crossing, but includes a cycle route alongside the black and white stripes.

As a considerate driver I will continue to stop and let them cross , dad told me to have manners and show respect

Yes pedestrians have always had the right of way but they also had good sense to realise if they stepped into the path of a moving vehicle they would come off worse. Unfortunately those same pedestrians particularly the elderly and those who don't drive wont bother to read the highway code updates. That's when there'll be hesitation confusion and confliction resulting in some poor s-- visiting A&E

They don't step into the path , they wait for you to stop , which I now do , and most smile at me as they walk across ,

What I said was if they had any sense they wouldn't step into a moving vehicles path. If you are under the elusion this is something pedestrians don't do then please stay clear of my local school when the kids are released and coming home.
Put yourself in a situation were you have stopped to let an elderly pedestrian cross but they stay put because they are confused and not aware of the new law, so they start waving their walking stick at you. As I see it you don't have many options but I'd like to hear what you would do. I have two high streets in my area with very heavy pedestrian traffic would you be happy to wait all day at a junction for a suitable gap before proceeding. I know the stream of drivers waiting behind you wouldn't be. There will always be grey areas when it comes to who has the right of way, unfortunately the authorities are very good at laying down laws that can put road users in serious danger. For example who in there right minds would allow a disabled scooter with a top speed of 8mph on a 70mph dual carriageway.
