CPF Bang on. I just hope my local bike hire company in the New Forest doesn't latch onto these death traps
I'm talking pedestrian crossings , if there is a paved bit on the kerb with no lights you are now suppose to stopI think your interpretation of the regs is a bit out there, mine is, if the junction is controlled by lights the lights control who has the priorities.
No, that wouldn't apply to the changes - it's only an issue at a junction and not really a rule change at all. If a pedestrian is on a minor road and the car turns on to it from the major one, then the pedestrian has right of way. Just as they always have had.
The updated code clarifies that:
A parallel crossing is similar to a zebra crossing, but includes a cycle route alongside the black and white stripes.
- when people are crossing or waiting to cross at a junction, other traffic should give way
- if people have started crossing and traffic wants to turn into the road, the people crossing have priority and the traffic should give way
- people driving, riding a motorcycle or cycling must give way to people on a zebra crossing and people walking and cycling on a parallel crossing
As a considerate driver I will continue to stop and let them cross , dad told me to have manners and show respectNo, that wouldn't apply to the changes - it's only an issue at a junction and not really a rule change at all. Or, from the .gov website:

I follow advice as well as law , driving advice has changed in the highway code , especially at junctions for pedestrians , like the driving instructor said , it's only bad drivers that are complaining ,As will I - the law has not changed so no need for any fuss either, however much you keep trying.
No, let's get that clear. The advice has not changed - it has been clarified. It was always the case that a pedestrian already on a minor road had priority over a motorist joining that road.driving advice has changed in the highway code , especially at junctions for pedestrians
They don't step into the path , they wait for you to stop , which I now do , and most smile at me as they walk across ,Yes pedestrians have always had the right of way but they also had good sense to realise if they stepped into the path of a moving vehicle they would come off worse. Unfortunately those same pedestrians particularly the elderly and those who don't drive wont bother to read the highway code updates. That's when there'll be hesitation confusion and confliction resulting in some poor s-- visiting A&E
It's not clarified it's changed ,or added toNo, let's get that clear. The advice has not changed - it has been clarified. It was always the case that a pedestrian already on a minor road had priority over a motorist joining that road.
Tell that to the government. It's not clarified

What I said was if they had any sense they wouldn't step into a moving vehicles path. If you are under the elusion this is something pedestrians don't do then please stay clear of my local school when the kids are released and coming home. They don't step into the path , they wait for you to stop , which I now do , and most smile at me as they walk across ,
