New hilux 2.8 auto

Only done 350 miles in mine. Will still be tight I suppose. Goes very well. Can go pretty fast easily. I thought with the 2.4 auto you had to just cruise along, if you planted the throttle it would just do a lot of reving and not much accelerating, you need to be fairly gentle to get it over 25mpg. Tri axle cattle float loaded and it’s around 16. Doesn’t really know it’s got a loaded trailer behind it. Just snores along but does drink diesel! Can’t have all that power for free I suppose. Seems to be doing a re gen very often! Very happy overall and worth the 11month wait!

Brother in law is running one, great pickup….apart from the economy side of things, it’s his third hilux and the worst by far, he got it remapped recently and runs the tyres pretty hard just to get the mpg up a bit which has made a difference

How bad is he finding the economy? I run a Ranger 3.2 auto and general running not towing it’s about 29/30 mpg …..

Was quoted £40k plus vat 🥵 Invincible X auto , roll cover , bed liner, metallic and tow hitch……
Yikes. That spec, less roll cover, was 31.5 with nfu voucher 3 weeks ago. Ordered an invincible at 28.5. Just hoping the navara hangs together til it arrives. :nailbiting: Tbh when a dmax was at least the same money and a ssangyong only 1k less (but on the forecourt), it was a no-brainer. Rushed into confirmation by one of those 'prices withdrawn at 5pm' jobs.

It's been hard to see any value in any pickup ever. Prices start from 45k€ incl. Vat and you can tow the same loads with van (that cost 10k€ less new). Load carrying capacity on short bed pickups is a joke.

I would echo the comments above - I had a hire one for a month over Christmas on insurance. Nice to drive but I was mightily glad to get back in my old Nissan D22!
