DPF needing lots of Regens is not usually a good thing, especially if you are using it hard which normally keeps them running better... ;)
Alot of active regens is not a good sign.

Basically the engine is producing alot of soot ( from too much egr, too much fuel, poor combustion, not enough air, running too cool or combination of those )

The knock on effect of this is sump oil dilution ( if it uses post injection) and eventually bearing failure, plus the dpf prematurely full up of ash.

What was the delivery quoted as?

I ordered one end of September and was quoted April/May delivery but that may change!!
I was looking first week of June and was quoted March for a Hilux Invincible. Ordered a Ranger Wildtrack for February delivery. No sign of it yet with no build date on the system then a 10 week delivery from the factory in S Africa.

It's been hard to see any value in any pickup ever. Prices start from 45k€ incl. Vat and you can tow the same loads with van (that cost 10k€ less new). Load carrying capacity on short bed pickups is a joke.
I've been farming 40 + years and for 35 of them I managed very well without 4WD. I have had 4WD for the last few years more because I can afford it than I actually need it.
Best vehicle for the farm is probably a Transit type pickup with 3.5 ton towing capability. (mine have been Nissan Cabstars for decades and I'd rate them higher than Transit)
My current truck is a king cab Navara, I really do like it but as a pickup it is shite tbh. I am 5"9" and anything whatsoever placed in the tub is beyond my reach. Most stupidest impractical design that anyone could possibly think of. More than that how do you get a pallet of anything on or off with a tailgate that sticks out so the fork lift cannot reach it?
Feckin idiots.

Getting hard to see the value in them.

Im hoping to be provided with a pickup for work soon, hard to know the best way for the farm of getting one tho, lease, HP, buy used etc?
Everyone seems to tick lots of options boxes though. Its a bit like tractors really, bog standard workman spec is quite a lot cheaper (at least it is here) and will do the same as a dearer fancy looking one.

A lot of UK pick ups have the tops on them too, so you're just buying a less useful van really. Off road ability might not be quite the same in the wet for a van but folk seem to have those UTV things for wet paddocks anyway.
So I agree, a van that can tow makes more sense.
Image though innit;)

We've 2wd Transits, don't really need 4wd. Great for towing, even with the small engine. Good space and pretty nice to drive, even though they're 20'ish years old. Very cheap to buy and will run long. We've one with almost 800000 km's on. Can fit the quad in it, can fit a couple of pallets with big seed bags on in it.

Image though innit;)
Can't really see the image thing though? Redneck loggers will fit more lights on them than the alternator can handle, but they're a breed of their own. :ROFLMAO:

Mines done about 11,000 miles on mt tyres and on a drive out to Gainsborough which is 1hr 45mins it did 30mpg. On off-road and short journeys its around 25mpg. I do like the vehicle alot the fuel economy is slightly less than my old 17 plate manual hilux but not by much. But with the new engine, it suits the auto best.

Saw a new utility spec Isuzu dmax on eBay, seemed a reasonable price but….

Get used to it ladies & gentlemen! Supply chain issues, Covid impact and now a war in Eastern Europe what do you expect.
Good friend was laughed at by the local Scania dealer when enquiring about a new 6 wheel chassis cab for 2023. Could possibly get something early 2024, but no promises and only an indicative price. Dealer will take the order on the agreement and understanding that the price will change/increase between now and when they can deliver it!

Difficult one to answer it seems alot but difficult to compare. The regens do vary in length of time.

I’ve heard the 2.8 Toyota regens around every 100 miles so probably normal. My d-max does the same. Always around 100 miles running around local and towing. Long run up a motorway sees more miles between.

Pickup job is getting expensive but then what isn’t? Of course if you were to order tomorrow then believe Isuzu and Toyota will be a year and possibly more.

I’m in the queue for a new d-max, rightly or wrongly. Thinking was last July when I paid a deposit I could make my mind up come the day. I’ve no idea when delivery might be and even less idea if I want to swap now. Way things are going there could be financial hardship ahead and feel uncomfortable about spending the money. Dealer asked me if I was still going to take it - “well of course, I’ll take it straight down to webuyanyvan and take a profit!” Price was agreed at time of getting in the queue.

My old man’s new Hilux has the adblue warning on the dash telling him to top up in so many miles. He put one of those 10lt bottles in it and the warning is still there but the number of miles has increased before he needs a refill.

Does he need to put more in to get rid of the warning or do you manually have to remove it? Bit of a pain it stuck all the time warning him.
