My old man’s new Hilux has the adblue warning on the dash telling him to top up in so many miles. He put one of those 10lt bottles in it and the warning is still there but the number of miles has increased before he needs a refill.

Does he need to put more in to get rid of the warning or do you manually have to remove it? Bit of a pain it stuck all the time warning him.
Put more in, another 5-10 litres may do the trick

Got one on demo, at present
Not a bad truck .............but very complex, for what it is and ride comfort is no better than my Mk7
Driver's seat doesn't go back far enough for me, not as much driver's legroom as my Mk7

My Navara does that every time. Just give it a day or two and it sorts itself out, the Addblue thing doesn't seem to work the same way as a fuel guage. Mine does it even if you fill to the brim so I wouldn't add any more just yet.
Can't get 10 litres in mine even if empty.

He’s drove nearly a hundred mile and it’s still warning him. I’m wondering if he put the adblue in far too early as soon as the warning appeared and the 10ltr bottle has overfilled her.

Well I would ignore it.
When you want to worry is when you get the message saying you have X amount of miles left and after that it will go into limp mode. Yes, that is a thing and usually costs over a grand to sort out.

You cant over fill it as it would simply overflow. Are you sure he hasnt got the dash readout set on miles to empty for addblue level? on my VW you can have it display range, av mpg, add blue range etc... It will default to the last one viewed so it may have stayed on add blue range

When I change the screen readout to show speed/mpg/fuel left etc, it switches straight away back to the warning screen about having several hundred miles left before needing adblue refill. Also it has the yellow triangle warning symbol light on.

I did hear from a fella who has a friend with a new HiLux on order that due to the flood at the South Africa factory that he is now looking at more like 18months for new truck. Said fella works at Isuzu dealer and he said that they’re getting down to about 6months for a new d-max, depending on spec.

If you scroll through the info menu on the clocks (Middle) from the steering wheel controls, there is a screen with the ad blue level, telling you if it’s full/half/empty - looks like an oil can and shows exactly how much is in the ad blue tank
Have a play with the info functions
