New hilux-any problems?

If only it told you if it was close to needing to regenerate and then you could push a button when it was a good time!
A pal bought 1 Dec 18 and I got mine about 4 months before that and his has a button fitted to manually regen.
When mine went for service at dealer I asked the guy if it was a known issue with dpf filter giving problems and he said off the record aye, but they won't admit it.
Also said if gives bother in warranty tell them you want a new dpf, then when they ask about payment tell them to take it up with Toyota. They won't agree to begin with, but mention trading standards and suddenly they're very helpful.
Alternative is the garage trys to clean old 1 with varying success and charges for the privalege.

I’m afraid they are no more..!
I know, I got one of the very last ones. Sad because after buying group discount it was about about a grand more than hilux/navara,d max types and is 10 times the car (had a navara for two years before, got stolen).

The new version of a Ranger out next year could be available with the 2.3 litre hybrid powertrain, I think it’s already being used in the new Bronco.
Sadly we will probably just get a choice of 4 cylinder diesels ….but we can hope!
The all battery F150 Lightening looks fantastic, about 40 k dollars for base model.

Have you got to leave it running to do it`s stuff?
No , I asked dealer he said no and says the previous model was doing the same but it didn't come up on the screen to tell you, so you didn't realise it was doing it. My new Hilux Invincible X regenerates but if it didn't say it was doing it you wouldn't know.

Never had a warning come up on dash but sometimes when I come to a stand still the truck will Rev to 1800 rpm and sit at that speed for a while,I’m guessing that it’s doing a burnout

I'm no expert on dpf regens (keeping old pickup without going as long as i can) but from what I've seen of garages doing forced regens (laptop job) on various makes they rev a lot harder than 1800rpm. To do a regen they need to generate heat and revving sat still on the spot with no load on the engine probably won't do it. You may only be getting a partial regen hence doing it more often
Next time it wants to do one might be worth driving down road and if you've a good stretch of road nearby low gear and plenty revs see if it makes any difference.
