Pros:
No laptop required to fix is a big bonus (y)
you can post in the classics earning their keep thread

cab or cab less ?

parts availability would be a concern (if not availability - (how quick)) Although Manners do say they have a couple of 15 series they are braking on their website

Has a cab ....I need one with my lung disease ☹️
It will do very little work approx 20 acres a yr . Contractor got new combine and now can't get down to farm . He can get to the rest easily ......
.....also it's a bit of a novelty 😊😊.....which deep down is the real reason !

JFDI then, life's too short not to have the odd little toy , its not like its a Ferrari or speed boat (they are harder to get the vat back on)

I ran one for cutting 120 acres annually for 7 years and loved it. A bit slow, 10 acres is a good day! But lovely clean sample and very reliable. All the serviceable bits are still available though New Holland and obscure parts from breakers. Greasing and servicing was a dirty itchy job and I also fitted air con using only having one lung as an excuse!
If you’re only cutting 20 acres and it’s a good one you will love it.

Cut about 120-140acres with one with no cab for years. Brilliant little machine and as rare as rockn horse sh1t for it ever to breakdown. As some of the replies above as long as it's solid eg grain pan, elevators etc it shouldn't give you much bother.
we had to re line the bottom of the tank and the clean grain elevator as we wore them out.

We had a 1550s with a cab. However, the cab was an aftermarket one made by Cabcraft, basically a dust proof metal tent!
If the machine you have seen is basically sound, don't discount it, you might be able to get a cab from one of the donor machines at Manners, Burden Bros in Kent would also be a potential source of used bits.

we have one (hopefully running) its a later one with rotary screen and hyd ram swing on the unloading auger .
its not posh but will munch away .
watch out for rust and worn out augers on the returns and good grain elevators oh and the chains and sprockets .
we have not woken ours up yet from its slumber as we only have spring barley so we may have a few more problems :scratchhead:

It was supplied new to a farm near Yeovil, Somerset, then registered in 1980 with the plate EEL1V! They sold it to a friend under the Quantock hills near Taunton who kept it until 2011. I bought it and ran it for seven seasons. It’s now back in Somerset on the levels still going. I think it’s only averaged 60 acres a year from new.
It was supplied new with a rotary screen and a hydraulic spout! It later gained a cab, RDS grain loss monitor, Clac’an’acre computer and air con!
