New Holland 65 baler wanted.

The New Holland 65 has a smaller bale chamber than the 68 and is completely different machine that is why they sold well over seas in the hilly areas
I have one in my collection If you look over in France you will find plenty
Many thanks. I will have a look further afield.

Would you know if the knotters on the 65 are exclusive to the model or is their commonality with other balers in the NH range? I have seen a wreck of a 65 but with missing knotters. Thanks

Early Compact tractors generally don’t have an over run clutch so when you shut down the baler the momentum of that plunger may snap your pto shaft like a carrot. Your looking at relics sadly and being fussy over the model will inevitably lead you to buy an issue, how many hp / model is it ( the tractor)

It’s a modern BCS (Pasquale/Ferrari) alpine tractor 1200 kg with 46 hp and 35hp at the pto. I’ve been told will be ok on the flat. It’s just the steepish decents and turn-ins which has me looking for the lightest options.

The New Holland 65 has a over run clutch on it as most balers do

Is it any interest before ,i put it in a local on line auction ,
It was nice to talk to you and many thanks for the video and photos of what looks like an absolute gem of a baler. I’ve now had time to have a look at similar sized machines and have come to the conclusion that my little tractor just wouldn’t have the weight to operate this safely on the hilly land we have. I’m sure you won’t have a problem finding a new home for such well kept machine. Thanks again.

This has just arrived and hoping it is better than it looks. Any advice or tips welcome.

Soak everything in diesel and leave for a few days and then see if you can turn it over by hand and see what's operating and what's not. If you get as far as stringing it up our new Hollands always liked the 10000 ft hay twine(its thicker)
If all goes well and it's OK get plenty of straw and put through it to help shine it up and find any problems
Good luck your a braver man than me
Think the tyre needs some air as well ;)

My thoughts where 5 gallon wd 40 too,

@Rotindle , perhaps a little late, as you appear to have purchased, but a 65 in what appears to be working order has just been posted for sale on the Facebook group- small/conventional balers. I have had my own balers for forty years and have never seen one before, never mind for sale!

Sometimes your best friend tells you the honest truth.
You are wasting your time on that machine.
It does not even appear to have knotters or am I mistaken.
You have a sharper eye than me
And to be fair I didn't want to be the one to pi$$ on his bonfire
But on the bright side if he buys the one of Facebook he will have one for spares
