New Holland Air con, Stops when its hot outside

I have a New Holland T6.140 and the Air con works perfectly Except on the very hottest days where it will completely stop, you can’t hear the compressor click in and it just blows hot
But when you go to the tractor the next morning after its been sitting all night it works fine again and usually continues to until the next hot day
Anyone any ideas??

Probably freezing up .
My Bateman does it if it's turned on too cold.
Yours will be a switch on or off, so possibly a thermostat .
You'll need an air con man.

It is most likely freezing up. My Case Puma does it on hot humid days. Just leave the fan running but turn the air con off for 10 mins and it melts itself, airflow returns to normal levels and you are good to turn it on again.

You have probably done it already but make sure your radiator and condenser are blown clean. Then if you can find a newer tractor to compare it too check how much air volume is blowing. The matrix under the seat can form a mat of dust, grass and dog hair and restrict air flow causing it to kick out.

Thanks for the replies, yes the air is still blowing as normal, just hot, unsure if it is freezing up because even after hours an hours being switched off it still won’t work, i have another T6 165 and it can have the air con flat out all day long every day without issue, the problem tractor was also re gassed in February

Decent aircon man will sort it, it could be a number of things that are wrong. you be best off with a proper air con specialist that deals with stuff like this on a daily basis rather than a dealer mechanic that’s been on a 1/2 day course!

My newest maxxum will, I presume freeze up on very hot days if I turn it off for a few minutes urs fine again for a few hours. My older mxu is fine and will stay ice cold all day.

I did have a jcb loadall re glasses a few years ago and that would stop working. I just found the Schrader valve and dumped some gas by holding the valve in with my pocket knife until the compressor cut in and it's been fine since.

We have had problems with our 6070 (climate control). Valve under the seat changed, gas levels checked etc. Turned out to be a relay in the fuse box. The same size relay does work lights I think so swap it to see if that helps (best to check operators manual to identify them).

Dont set the switch for max cold. keep it back a little, some systems on max dont actually use the thermostat at that point and just keep running until frozen up, then the high pressure switch kills it.

To the op when it stops working switch off the air con for 15 mins then back on and see what happens.

Interesting that maybe could be it, was it only the hottest of days yours didn’t work either?

It won’t be the pipes freezing up my new Holland did the exact same last year can’t remember what it actually was that was the problem but if you open the bonnet the compressor clutch will have kicked in stopping the compressor pumping, I had too always park my tractor in the shed so it stayed cool otherwise I’d come too it and air con wouldn’t work ... tried all the run it flat out on hot sh!t and it never worked so dealer came out and sure they changed a thermo stat switch or something

Prob hi pressure switch, easy swap if the tyre valve type thing under it works and does not stick open!

I’m going to go go against the grain and suggest you get the mail dealer to look at it. The air con is linked to the tractor can bus system and the problem could be a variety of things. My old 6040 did it once and it turned out the faulty part was the enhanced keypad on top of the dashboard!
