New Holland has announced that its dealership Russell’s have now completed their acquisition of neighbouring New Holland dealership Platts Harris Ltd.

Based at Malton in North Yorkshire, Russell’s will now operate nine New Holland Agriculture depots.

These are located throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire – making them one of the largest New Holland dealers in the country, the agri-machinery giant says.

Both of the former Platts Harris depots, at Tuxford near Newark and Darley Dale near Matlock, have been retained, it has been confirmed.

This will “provide customers in the North Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire a continuity of service”, the manufacturer adds.

Many of the staff in those depots have moved over to Russell’s to further enhance this continuity.

Paul Russell, managing director of Russell’s, commented on the acquisition, stating: “We are delighted to have been able to retain the depots at Tuxford and Darley Dale.

Our industry and our own business are based around local staff serving local customers.

“We therefore look forward to working with all of our new staff and customers in the area and wish them a warm welcome to Russells as we develop our business in the area together with New Holland,” the managing director concluded.

Strange how things go round.
Tipton & Morley Barnard Castle & North Allerton (I believe) was purchased by the Platts and I believe they traded as Platts TM for a while.
Platts Case IH dealer purchased Harris Ford NH dealer
Anyway many years later as Platts - Harris started to implode Russells purchased the old Tipton and Morley business from PH fast forward to 2020 and Russell’s now purchase the last of the Platts Harris business.
Platts god knows how many depots Case IH dealer
Harris including Sanderson's of Tuxford again many depots Ford NH
P-H purchase a largish Ford NH dealer Townsends of Metheringham Lincolnshire
Almost forgot Russell’s purchase the Hallmark Tractor business.
I’m sure that I’ve forgotten something but a relatively smallish dealer in Yorkshire ends up outlasting his massive neighbours and eventually taking over several businesses’.
Really well done to The Russell Group
Who believes that the dealer changes of 2020 are unique?
Strange how things go round.

I wonder if the Russell group are still independent, or is this a buyout of the dealer network by New Holland?

If Russell’s are really independent their borrowing must be horrendous!
