Afternoon all,

Been out knocking in some fencing stakes today with the post basher and its been a frustrating exercise.

The weight block just isn't moving up and down with any great speed to drive the posts in. The moment I chain the hitting plate back on it doesn't have enough go to move that. If I push it myself that will move it but its very laboured.

To help with the problem I've increased the power from the tractor but even at 2500rpm it's still barely doing anything.

I've noticed that the loader and link arms also need a little bit of throttle to get them to rise.

Looking at some of the oil coming out the spools its cloudy white.

The steering is fine. I know in the past that if the oil is low that the steering goes lumpy but that's not the case here. I only topped it up a fortnight ago as it was low then.

The tractor itself had its 3000 hour service not long ago and I brought that forward as I was worried about oil then.

The tractor is NH T5060.

I'm wondering if there is a filter I need to look at it? Does the oil need changing? Or is this worse?

Is the mast well lubricated.
Have you got a hydraulic flow control knob on the tractor that is possibly turned down

Is the spool valve cable operated?
If so, where the cable sheath attaches to the spool has a nasty habit of coming loose, restricting the movement of the spool resulting in little if any hydraulic power.
IIRC, it is clamped with a small bolt, maybe needing a 10mm spanner to tighten it.
It’s usually easily enough to see by operating the spool lever and seeing what happens to the cable at the valve end.
Make sure the spool lever is in neutral, before tightening it up.

No stuck cables on spools?

How is the loader operated, is it taking all the flow?

Is the mast well lubricated.
Have you got a hydraulic flow control knob on the tractor that is possibly turned down

This would be my first thing to check, ours needs plenty of grease to keep it going up smoothly.
