New holland pto problems

Hello, i am having problems with my 2000 new holland tl90. The pto speed changer is stuck in place and wont let me put it in 1000 rpm. The cable is not stuck so it is probably stuck inside the pto unit. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know what may have happened?

Very often the cable gets stretched and the selector on the end doesn't travel far enough to engage a speed
With the tractor turned off turn the pto by hand whilst trying to help the selector engage or get someone to work the lever while you use a small pry bar on the pto selector to encourage it to engage. If that doesn't work possibly something internal.

Thanks for that, the cable did snap some time ago so i know that it is not the problem but i will try this.
