New Holland seat sensor

Does anyone know how I can get to the "operator presence switch" so I can smash it into a million pieces. The alarm has been driving me crazy today, flashing parking light and more alarms when you want to use the PTO. Also causing problems with the forward/reverse shuttle.

It looks to me like I have to remove the cusion/top half of the seat somehow?

It's a grammer seat in a T6040 elite if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance :scratchhead:

Not been at one for a while but when I did you just took off the seat cushion. There are a load of clip things under the seat pan. They look like ring pulls- fold them down then half turn them so they pass thru the slotted holes.

It is sometimes the handbrake switch that causes problems.

My mxu has had the same fault I'd be surprised if it's the switch, twice on mine the wire under the seat has Chaffed/broke this then causes the handbrake light, pto warning or clutch pedal alarms to flash and buzzer sound. As a temporary fix I have bypassed the seat proximity switch but this dangerous because the shuttle can be engaged at anytime while getting in or out of the cab

The wire normally breaks were it goes through the pan below the cushion its a bit fiddly and there's not much spare wire but it can be joined by laying on the cab floor and reaching under the seat.

Just take disconnect the plug down the side of the seat and join the wires together, think there's 4 wires so ull have to do abit of guessing to get it right but it worked for us.

I had the the rubber off around the bottom of the seat and can see the wire that goes up through the hole in the top part of the seat. There is a tight cable tie holding it in place and it looks intact as far as I can see. When I push the cushion on the seat with my hand in just the right place I can just get the park light to go out intermittently. I hoped I could get the top off like kennyO suggested to have a look at the switch but it looked to me like a load of inaccessible screws to get it off.

Cutting and joining the wires near the plug at the bottom sounds like a plan but I don't really trust dad to not pull the shuttle when he struggles in and out!

The seat cushion should come off pretty easy.
There are four star headed screws around the edge of the pan, remove these and the cushion lifts off.
once the cushion is off there's a thin sheet of tin, the switch is sandwiched between this and the seat pan itself.

Once you get the cushion off just remove the springs under the plate.(y)

I have had this problem too on a couple of Tm's. I think the end of the button wears slightly where it makes contact with the seat cushion. Rather than bypass the switch I drilled a small hole through the button part of the switch and screwed a short self tapping screw in so that the button made contact with the bottom of the seat cushion.( in effect lengthening the button) Never any problem after that and still isolates the shuttle when you get off the seat. There have been too many times when I've got unzipped overalls wrapped around the shuttle lever, particularly when getting in, for me to even think about by-passing the switch.

Thanks everyone, prize goes to Robbie. Three out of four wires were broken where they go up into the seat. Once the cable tie is cut you can pull some slack down but it's really fiddly.

On more or less the same matter, is it feasable to make the beep in a case puma 130 a little less deafening?
It is one of the few things where I like the mxm better then the puma.

Sometimes the relay for the 'beeb' has a screw adjuster for the sound, you could try that of failing that stick some tape over it.

On my fastcrap and another I used to drive I stuffed tissue paper into the beeper, that bossed it! :)

They are not a simple on off switch, it needs a certain resistence. Google for something like grammer resistence switch.

14093 is a short in sensor wiring, probably damaged behind seat. Joining the wires wont work because its not an open or closed circuit, its done on change of voltage, think its 3v when off the seat and 9v on but could be the other way round
