New Holland T7 Power Command Gearbox

Hello all,

Just a very quick one to see whether anyone knows of anywhere that does second hand gear boxes? Our 210 has decided (for some reason) to take it upon itself to dislike its own gearbox. This was one day after we had the brakes done on it! So after hearing the price of a new gearbox I'm just seeing if anyone knows of anyone with a second hand one?

If not no worries at all.

Thanks

Steve

I know. It has taken teeth out of the gears and scored the gears also. Had a brake problems with a 6070 a few years back and that was the end of that tractor for us. I don't know what they are making these newer machines out of nowadays but they certainly don't seem to last. Its only done just 4000hrs over 5years.

Perhaps I'm expecting too much from them once the warranty runs out.

Perhaps we have just ended up with a Friday afternoon unit. The T7200 we have is ok at the moment (lots of wood touched) but it is only 2 years old at 2000hrs currently.

Yes it was. Initially they thought there would be a need for new pistons too but said we didn't need them as we caught it in time. Can't see how anything would be affected within the gearbox tho from brake disc replacement, could it?

It's the fine material stripped off your old brake pads acting as a grinding paste in the gearbox bearings and all over the tractor that's the problem

Yep with you there. No issues with the bearings in the gearbox tho. But yes had issues with the steering on the 6070 due to the filings.

Unfortunately the issue is that the damage has been done and replacement parts from what I've been told are more than a complete new gearbox. I was just wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that deals in either refurbished or second hand boxes? To see if we can get her going again at a slightly lower cost. I know this is a long shot.

If the brake material has made its way through the system that's where your problem has come from. Did they not do a back end flush while doing the brakes?
Hi greasemonkey, unfortunately I can't tell you what they did when they did the brakes, I had been told that they had changed the oil but I am still a little sceptical about that given the filters weren't replaced and the oil didn't look particularly fresh to us.

Changing the oil and filters is a must when doing brakes, filter will need changing again after maybe 50hrs,putting the old oil back in is madness.

Yep I completely agree with you there. We all know how damaging the filings can be to any hydraulic system, let alone one which is both transmission and hydraulic

We had a new gearbox at 350 hrs....a circlip had come off and marked some gears....the complete casting and gearbox was renewed.... Under warranty which goes without saying. It was a t7 200

The mechanic at the dealer was very good and explained to NH that he wanted a complete unit....so one case from Italy I think.

I'm not sure if there is a warning light or error code that comes up when the bypass valve is activated on the filter....but when the filter gets blocked the oil bypasses the filter, so any bits just go round and round.....

At that point a strong electrical charge need's to be feed into some drivers before damage becomes massive

Sounds like something that should be added as a factory standard option! Unfortunately there was no warnings for us only a noise that we called the dealership about, they came out and told us it was just pipes vibrating.
