Have a strange problem.... Been drilling today with T7.270 an combi, got to the end of the run picked up the drill an the pto stub popped out.. Got out had a look and it had snapped one of the little legs on the retaining circlip an split the o-ring seal. So shot back to farm got the clip an o-ring out of the t7.210 put that in fine. Started drilling end of the run lift drill pulls stub out again.... Grrrr annoying! No damage this time, wiped stub refitted of i go again, blow me end of run does it again and the same on next run, getting grumpy now!! Pto on powerharrow slides fine, circlip fits tight the grove it sits in is clean, can't pull stub out by hand.... Gave up! Put drill with same stub an circlip on the 2.10 worked fine. Any ideas? An no i'm not leaving it on the 210.... Its gutless!

Sell them both then?

Is the pto height any different on each tractor? As in is the shaft on combi running at steep angle on 270 causing a bit of stress at stub?

Check the PTO shafts as they wear a lot more than you think as it is moving in and out all the time and wears it should be greased up at least once a day it is a lot more come than you think

Had the same problem with a t6090 last year, only happened once but still with no obvious cause, service manager at dealer said he has had a few people with the same problem so I think there could be some kind of design fault.

How easy was it to get the stub back in the housing? Ours was a nightmare had to file it out as it seemed to have gained a few ridges

Had this on our TM155 with Kuhn PH on, as you say it did it several times in a row. New circlip didn't help, dealer said it was either strip back end down and fit new hub, as it is the groove that the circlip sits in that wears, or buy a kit from them, can't remember the name of it, but your dealer will as this is a common occurrence apparently. It uses three wedges that lock in using three allen studs in each. This locks the stub in and works absolutely fine, it just takes 15 minutes to change between 540 and 1000 ends, which is fine if you don't need to very often.

It has done it before on couple of our n.h's with various implement but only broke the circlip an once only. P.t.o slides easy, an stub fits easy just a wipe with a rag as it pops out and lands in the dirt. Circlip is good, an so is grove in tractor. May be the running angle as the 270 is a bigger tractor and on 42" tyres compared with 38" on 210. An p.h tines are getting a bit low, but 4 runs in a row makes me think its something more. Only does it raising out of work not entering, its also fairly easy going soil conditions. Could it be something inside?? Just the p.t.o is a dry change but with a weeping seal but i could prob fill a cup with the oil that runs out each end. Also using same stub an circlip in the 210. Its only done 700 hrs an never change pto stubs, so can't see its being wear due to age. Change both tractors.... Well i do have an 824 on demo next week....

I know of 3 Massey where the bolts came slack, 1 ended up shearing most of the bolts

why dont they just use a bolt on flange like fendt and massey? it'll never wear and get slack either!
indeed i hate them bolt on ones had it happen twice nut lock and tichter than my wallet still shuggled loose and wrecked the innards.then had a stub shear in half yup the shafts are binding dont matter you can slide them in and out by hand pump a 150hp through them and try it.

Shaft slides very easy tho.. Unless its binding under load as it lifts? Going to try fitting new power-harrow tines tomorrow, see if its the angle its running at.

Yea i guess it could be that. But why would it not be doing it with both tractors? Hence my thought of tines getting short an the 270 sits taller on bigger wheels an a greater shaft angle?

Had on eof those kits on a7840 which used toi do this exact same thing. Cured it. TM150 had bolt on stub. Haven't looked at the newer tractors but with only a fert spreader, topper and hedgecutter being used regularly I don't foresee a problem anyway.
