New Holland Tractors

They all break down, the part on the seat being a big factor. Parts, good mechanics and some help on the borderline cases are what's important.

It would be pretty disappointing if NH don't help you on that one @Chae1

Dealership has been first class. Even giving us a tractor with front PTO so we can cut grass for silage when waiting for parts.

We didn't buy the tractor from them, bought it from Platts Harris. So I don't expect them to cover anything. We don't show loyalty to them and don't expect anything in return.

We do show loyalty to new Holland. Have 3 reasonably new ones.

Do you not just grease it when you grease everything else on the tractor? My older valmet has grease nipples on the back axle but the new one doesn’t… I just do every grease nipple on mine when I grease the loader up never bothered to go by the book as grease is cheap
I think there was a thread on hear a while back that GIMA axles don’t come with grease nipples fitted, but they are ment to be installed for greasing at the service interval. Don’t know if they adopted the same deal for Valmet.

A farmer local to me runs a premium brand - extended warranty dealer serviced. A tractor has nearly been destroyed by truly shocking workmanship from a main dealer, parts fitted wrong, wrong parts fitted, incorrect reassembly. Had an independent expert look at it and absolutely unbelievable what has been going on, zero fuchs given by those servicing it, it's like they didn't make the slightest effort to do simple jobs properly resulting in a very poorly tractor. An example - oil pipes refitted in the wrong place so a filter can't be accessed. The solution - reshape the filters with a hammer! Can't get the staff or trust anyone these days.

Lost count of how many new Holland’s our company has owned.

all tractors have the bell housing greased every 50 hours.
3 or 4 pumps.

Never had an issue with blowing seals.

so I will tomorrow I guess 😬😬😬

The problem here is kids on apprenticeships are sent out from the dealerships to service replace parts. I know they got to learn but you don,t want them learning on your kit, especially when your paying a small fortune for the privilege.

Wouldn't be a problem greasing them more regularly. Nobody has told us that lack of grease was cause of this one failing. Or said they should be greased at 50 hours instead of 600.

Doesn't it say in the book to grease every 50 hrs? I know all other grease points are every 50 hrs so I just assumed the bell housings were too. I used to grease the linkage every day if it was doing a lot of heavy linkage work like ploughing.

Will look in manual today.

Bit late now if it is. 🤦‍♂️

I used to give it a couple of pumps every 50 pumps. With the Claas the bearings start to make a noise before it hits 500 hrs especially if its on alot of road work or carrying heavy weights. I give the Claas a couple of pumps every 100 hrs.

The rear axle casting cracked and broke out.

Not sure if the axle casting was faulty or the bearing had failed and broken it out.

The NH dealer had serviced it a few weeks previously. The service interval for that bearing is 600 hours.

I feel it was either a faulty bearing or casting. Be interesting to hear what CNH think caused it.

Hopefully they will be very helpful in this case.

They know about this. It’s been happening for years now. My mate was a fitter for NH and has told me about these issues. They just give way. I have been told some parts are made in China and assembled here. Interestingly he left because he was sick of the phone going constantly about such things and folks playing war with him about it.
Get at them about it meeting you half way with this repair would be fair or come to some agreement for you to pay labour and they pay for the parts. If you’ve bought a combine drag that into the equation too.
I know of a fella who buys a combine off them and gets very well looked after with his nh tractors

Looks like that housing has been cracked for a while? 100% casting or material failure there IMO, I can't see a bearing causing that.

It doesn't matter what the manual says, that bearing is dry. Mine get a couple of pumps every time I'm holding a grease gun, every 10 or so hours. I often scratch my head at some of the lubrication intervals in the manual, so I don't listen to it and grease everything all the time.

I'd have thought that's not a high enough speed application to blow the seal during use, the only way I could see the seal blowing is if you literally blow the seal out with the grease gun, but you'd have to be a bit of a numpty to do that.

We run 2 New Holland’s, T7 has had annoying issues with the adblue system and sensors, and a failure of the prop shaft bearing but pretty reliable overall. Dealer backup is key and ours is superb in that regard.

I don't think over greasing will blow the seals, if I'm not mistaken there's only a seal on the outside of the bearing so any excess grease will go inside and end up lost in the transmission oil.
