I need help.
A light on the dash came on and had been for a long time so I went to a dealer and asked what to do, I was told to replace the filter. I did so and as soon as I did I lost all hydraulic power. I couldn’t get the tractor to move and the pto seemed to run on its own. I was told it could be either an air block somewhere, a problem with the hydraulic pump or a problem with a valve somewhere. If someone has a second opinion I’d like to hear it thanks

Enough oil in it? Drawing air on suction side? Have you tried starting it up and trying the steering and valves to help it on for a short time?

Not sure about air. Definitely enough oil, refilled and filled with buckets full. Steering is fine. Haven’t had much time to look at her, will only be getting a good look at it tomorrow

Sometimes they like to draw air instead of oil after an oil change which shows up a hidden fault. I’ve seen us with tractors parked with their noses up running to get them to prime themselves when these problems crop up

When you saying noses up do you just mean pull it onto a hill so that the tractor is sitting at an angle? I’m lost sorry
If the pump is at the back which I think it is drive it up a hill so it has little choice but to suck oil instead of air. Could be a worn pump or o ring gone hard on suction side or stuck valve otherwise

It won’t drive at all you see, I’ll pull it up tomorrow and let her run. Safe enough to pull by the front axel? She isn’t pulling any equipment just her own body weight

Yes it will pull ok off axel. Sounds air locked lift front up a bit and start her up then try remote valves. There’s an o ring on pump suction pipe could be drawing air there. Steering and pto is low pressure side on small pump. Bubbles in oil indicates drawing air

Ok will check this out tomorrow thanks for the help. Just to be clear how would the steering be affected? It’s ok because it’s a separate pump altogether I thought

Is pto on the piggy back pump? On the main hydraulic pump? Yes steering pump will be on side of engine sorry

What position are spool valve levers in ? Had trouble with our 7740 in the past when left on the lower/float position and one of the spool valves centre pin hasn’t returned properly

Is this the 16 speed electro shift tractor, if so I believe there is one one pump and closed centre hydraulics. if its the same as a 115 electroshift there are 3 filters. Which one did you change.?

Not sure but it’s the biggest one which hangs from the button near the rear left wheel
