I am, this minute, awaiting to be 'assigned an agent as soon as one is available' on Live Chat to report a fault on the house landline. BT having failed to enable me to report the (quite simple) fault online.

Update: 'Atanu' assures me the fault will be 'resolved' by 26th Aug.

I laughed when i was told my 'order' of a telephone line would be complete that day and to just wait until the end of the working day, not only was there no phone line installed yet, the duct hadn't been connected and UKPN had already backfilled the trench the day before....

Stuff a fibre line in maybe? Three phase worth it too? We did three phase and when (if!) I can afford a half decent workshop it will be handy.

I was waiting for adsl and Sky said i couldn't have it in our area, only fibre, the reason.... their service used to be so shocking they had to just stop offering adsl HA HA HA

edit to add: the last run from the cabinet will be same cable anyway, it's all FTTC (fibre to the cabinet)

If you have line of sight to a house, shop, company with good Internet facilities. Ask if you can rent a line and put up point to point antennas. I've got fibre at my farm. Line of sight to commercial grainstore.

What do you get with fttc at your pad? We get 4meg with adsl which is just ok I would say. I looked at the 4g EE router for the speed but at 40 odd quid a month for limited data I thought it a little rich.

So far so good with openreach. Filled in the online form straightforward enough. Then a local guy came out on friday and left me the cable to chuck in the water trench when i do it. He says contact our provider and they ll get in touch with openreach when we are ready. They ll mole the road and connect it to the cable on the opposite side of the road. Good service so far. The same cant be said for scottish water!

We have found UK Power to be very efficient and the price they quoted wasn't as bad as I feared. Unfortunately the pole is on the water boards land who are refusing to answer the electricity boards calls and emails :banghead:
