Im about to lay the phone cable, anyone know how much spare cable i should leave at the house wall? Does the cable need to go inside through a duct or do they fit a box or something to the wall and use a smaller cable into the house?
Anyone a expert on doing the sewer works for a new house? I have it to do as well. Any hints or tips? Septic tank is in already, need to lay pipes and mainholes and connect it all up and test it for council.

pretty simple for the drains dave try to keep straight lines of pipe if turning a corner use a manhole,if you have a junction use a manhole ,peashingle under the pipe, keep the fall nice and steady, dont use too sharp a bend

It isn't , you must calculate where your walls are finishing , then add bonding plasterboard and skim , shower trays are a pita , you must buy it before you do the footings.

Builders bombarded me with info today. Can sink water just fall into a hopperhead with a trap below? Think i need 5-6 manholes. Whats a spigot? I think plumber has joined shower and bath drains into toilet drain as only 1 large sewer pipe comes out the wall, no small white pipes. Underfloor as well so all concreted in now.

When using manholes any thing deeper than 18 inches use a bigger 600mm man hole.under that use 450mm.and allways use straight run in manhole on main run and feed into it on the side if that makes sense.ther is a fall in run in manhole so set the tops level.anything above ground can be cut down.ive never known the council to test drain runs for leaks and ive put loads in over a thirty year period.you will get lots of brownie point by asking questions when building control visit.they like that sort of thing.as for phone line, they usually leave loads so leave a few metres at house end.it shoukd be ducted to just above ground level and then openreach will put it up wall in another duct and through wall and connect up

We have to pressure test the drains with the council watching.
