The Aussie motoring press love the new one, they have it and the mazda as the top ute. The mazda is the same truck really. But they get the 3.0litre engine.Anyone out there had a drive of the new Isuzu?
Looks like it’s got a lot of expensive gizmos for a sheep farmer like me!
Why o why o why cant we have the 3.0 ?!
I've had a new one for 3 weeks now and 7000 kilometers. Good ute 3 liter engine is good, adaptive cruise is good, lane assist pisses me off as its always fighting me on narrow roads here and can't turn it off permanently. I don't find it particularly comfortable and its as rough as guts on anything but best roads, some weight in the back helps.
Overall wish I'd bought another Amarok but couldn't get one in time frame i needed it.
ive had 1 a year now, its ok pulled a load of sheep 155 miles to north wales av 18 mpg. does 38mpg running about and got 43mpg to wales last month.Yes it got the 1.9 but still gos ok better than the landrover did.
Some idiot in a office thinking that they know better than the customer. NZ/ Aus customers don't buy vehicles with toy engines. Why o why o why cant we have the 3.0 ?!

When I was in NZ last time talking to a Ford dealer about the ranger, he didn't know as ford put the 2.2 engine in a ranger. His words were, "how does it move with a engine so small" .all they sold were the 3.2 automatic, he had heard about a manual gearbox, but never sold one.
Same story in Australia. At a mine site they had just had delivery of new Ute's. All ford rangers, 3.2 automatic/ chassis cabs. In white. Small order just a 1000 vehicles .they had changed from Toyota's, as they had always used because they broke down too often. The Ford's were more reliable they said, they kept them about 2 yrs. And had 1000 Ute's every 6 months. They built their own rear body's, so it was right for whatever the job was. Some were flat beds, or box body's.
If nobody bought the new model with that toy engine then they might take notice.I don’t think Isuzu can get that 3.0 engine to meet strict EU emission regulations. Suppose could have cheated Now we are no longer members of the EU I don’t suppose for one minute anything will change. It’s a shame but it seems we are stuck with the 1.9 - if you buy a new isuzu. I could see a lot of Aussies avoiding the d-max like the plague if they were only offered a 1.9.
Interesting what you say about the Toyota’s.
I’ve read on Australia Isuzu forum the same thing about the lane assist. They say it can be turned off but defaults to back on next time the Ute is started.

Is the new 1.9 engine map the same as the 1.9 that has been out for a year or so? Thinking of a change but may just run my 2.5 into the ground. Will get a test drive of the new one, I guess the only way to find out!Realistically it won’t happen. The 1.9 does the job as had been mentioned. I preferred the old 2.5 against the 1.9 when it first came out. I’ve run an Isuzu since 2013 and I think my next pickup will be Ford or Toyota if only for a change.
Sound like you met some Ford dealers who don't know their stuff.....in NZ 2.2 Duratorq engine is available but only at entry level...usually sold to tradies' that don't travel very far. In Australia Hilux has outsold Ranger for the past five years and was the most popular selling vehicle in Australia in 2020 with 5572 units versus Fords 3917.. In total sale Toyota sold 17309 units..Ford sold 6306 units..In the mines in Queensland Toyota Hilux or LC70-V8 everywhere..Ford's still a very rare beastSome idiot in a office thinking that they know better than the customer. Would need a row of chargers in the market docks so you had enough battery to get home after you'd depleted it dragging the overweight trailer there foot hard down having had to lamb a legs- back ewe before leaving !Isuzu to go electric with battery-powered D-Max pickup - Farmers Weekly
