New lada niva

A friend of mine had an old one of them, it would go anywhere off road. Better than a land rover. I I was in the market for a utv I would think hard about the lada, put some better tyres on- still cheaper than a deasent second hand gator.
Of course it'd better than a LR - it's lighter. There are few better off-road cars than the Lada.

I remember the Autocar[?] guide, years ago. It had ride/handling/economy figures and scores, plus a pros and cons section. In *Pros* it simply said 'Good off-road'. In *Cons* it said '...so is a tractor'.
