I have just bought a new Kuhn HayBob 300, I took delivery of it in the pouring rain, so put in the barn… on inspection of it in the morning being an engineer Lloyds certificated back in the day, my eye are always drawn to the structure and the welding, my pet hate is splatter let on!
I immediately spotted undercut welding on and around the headstock, which to me is crucial…
What do you guys think?

I'm generally pretty pragmatic, but that would be going back. Maybe OK for a quick repair but they break there eventually even when properly welded.

I'm not a qualified welder even though I spent longer training in it back in the day than the guys do now who are.

Let's be honest, it ain't pretty but that's not gonna break, or at least certainly not because of the welding.

If he's a decent dealer he might swap it for another one he has in stock which looks better (if there is one!) purely to keep you happy, but I don't think there's any obligation there on him to do anything.

Just sayin'.

I welded one up for someone, from memory it was a crown wheel housing that had split off the tube.
I can't see this one breaking.
The welding is no worse than most Japanese motorcycles from the 80s.
I bet Kuhn buy them in made by someone else anyway.
