Are you invested in his interests or what as you seen to repeat anything he says as if it was gospel.

The gearbox fails in a class tractor too it's more the fact there is of less the tractors about.

It's a bearing that fails in the gearbox.have you seen one in pieces. I don't believe software causes it to fail
There is as many claas as masseys about here & iam only saying what i hear.
No i havnt seen a D6 box apart in the flesh but seen them parts that fail & cost way more than £3.5k to replace
ive seen the invoices from folks who have been there.
fully repaired D6 boxes that still fail 500hrs later isnt a laughing matter neither by main dealers
i hope it doesn't happen too yourself.
It might be partly down to how there driven i cant comment but its always the bigger chassis ones that give the trouble & that's a fact

Cab layout and gearbox, never did get to the bottom of how to use the gearbox despite studying the handbook on numerous occasions, a big fail in my book, it just wasn’t simple to select a start off gear to match varying loads, you either seemed to be trying to start off in too high a gear or working up through too many gears, compared to my tractors with the proper dynashift it was awful.
It was regularly stalled at which point the key just wasn’t where it should be adding to the frustration.
Hydraulics were equally poorly set up, the new type switch for raise/lower being just wrong, again compared to my other masseys.
It also had 2 electric spools which you had to fiddle with to get to work, which soon meant it was only hooked to things that could be operated with the 2 manual spools.
Didn’t particularly like the cab trim colour and i seem to remember the switches for functions like 4wd etc weren’t particularly clear on that pad on the cab pillar.

It wasn’t my main tractor but as the newest tractor should have been one of the first to be used. On a mixed farm there’s no such thing as a one driver tractor although it was vaguely intended to be the tractor of choice for my part time employee although inevitably I would be driving it quite a bit too. It was fairly easy for me to avoid most of the time and although I was fairly clear from early on that it needed to go but employee was fairly determined to get used to it .
But when we made some hay at some away ground we fetched a load each home leaving one for the employee to fetch and they asked if they could take my tractor as they just didn’t feel safe driving the 5613 on the road with a load that was the final straw.
Lost a lot of money trading it on but best thing I did with it.
Shame really as it was a nice compact tractor for its power, in many ways size wise better suited to mixed farm use than the Case that replaced it and engine wise performed well, I’m sure power wise it was a match for the Case which is supposed to be 20hp more and plenty brag the CNH engine although I don’t see it myself.
I could write an essay on what’s wrong with the Case, in so many ways it’s not as well built as my Masseys but as a replacement for the 5613 it’s fantastic, it’s a simple straightforward tractor to drive and has the best cab comfort of any of my tractors, it’s almost a favourite but I’m a massey man at heart.
Fare enough if you and your staff couldn't get along with it .
everyone to there own I know I give another potato grower a hand a harvest when im finished and drive his Newholand T7 200 I cant stand driving it
you shouldn't be abill to stall a 5613 if the antistall is engaged though i always switched it of as i found it dangerous as it was to sensitive .
i really like dyna 4 and dyna 6
wood never go back to the older 32speed
i had my 14 year old nephew driving my 5612 this year allong side the potato harvester he had never driven a tractor before in his life within 10mins of me sitting in wirh him showing how it worked he was up and running no bother

my 6480 is 99% the time in Auto mode for gears & maybes coming from 4f to 3f in manual is the problem?>
which it would never do in Auto ???
I presume you come down the dynashifts a bit before changing into 3rd gear? even if you were in say 4B & changed into 3F that would be fairly smooth surely?
on the 40k version 3rd gear in F dynashift is a higher speed than 4A non of them issues on a 50k gbox
you dont seem to have as flexible gbox options on all 76/77 series then after (unsure) driven them both here as demos all 50k versions
i never use auto mode on mine. I go down through the gears without skipping any gears, always seems pretty smooth to me. mine is a 50k one

Folk often talk about what are good and bad tractors, I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference.
As I say I certainly was a die hard massey man although a demo on a dyna 6 some years ago convinced me that wasn’t for me either and the £3500 extra for a dyna vt was well worth it to me from a personal perspective even though many would think my type of farming wouldn’t warrant such a tractor.

As I say, it’s all down to preference, there is nothing in the current MF line up I’d want to buy, you pays your money you takes your choice.

It may just be partly down to how some are driven then, its got to be a factor surely ?
ive genuinly heard of low hours bigger chassis models failing at 1500hrs tho with owner drivers taking care of the machines

Why dont they just repanel the green version in the stable no faffing over dyna 4 or 6 and sell it a bit cheaper theyll still sell plenty of green ones on the name alone simples!!!!( perhaps change the engine just for some choice)

Curious how you determine what’s a “fact”? Very bold statements to be making.

You have different views to the Massey Ferguson area service manager ,he told me they fail because of the software , the software was changed after 2017 and there has not been as many failed since then on 200hp+ tractors all so the way the gearbox was set up was changed at the same time, if you were a good mf spanner monkey you should know all this .

Why are people not allowed views now or should we just read from your book on how it is.

Who ever said I was good I'm bloody brilliant 🤣

After trying out a vario earlier in the year, I wouldn’t go back to a conventional gearbox for my mainly livestock farm, especially for loader work. Would like to have stayed with Massey, but the price difference between a 300 series Fendt and a 67 series Massey meant the MF had no chance of coming here. Until we get electric tractors, vario is the way forward for transmissions as far as I can see,
WHAT?!?! impossible.... How much of a price difference is it?
