Swapping gears is not the biggest obstacle at the moment. It's more in knowing which gears to swap and how/where to find them. Those parts may be somewhat common in certain parts of the world but not in my back yard.

In the case of the MF 3000 series it was simply a case of swapping the position of two existing gears, no new gears needed.

That's an interesting concept, and one I've never been aware of. If you could elaborate on that a bit with some details I would certainly like to know more about it.

Sorry, I’m no mechanic to explain any detail, all I know is it was a straight forward job of swapping 2 gears over to go from 30k to 40k on speed shift Masseys. Obviously it involves splitting the tractor to do that but I’m told it was not a lot of extra work if doing a clutch.

Ford/ NH 40 series could be worth a look on the SL gearbox . I used to drive a Ford 7840 that would nudge 38 mph on the flat. It was a 40 k transmission but would go much faster, but it was a hand full at that speed. Main road and empty only and even then you had to be brave.

Can someone explain what parts would be needed to make that conversion?
