It’s not a DSG in the vw pickup , it’s an 8 speed zf auto box as used in the land rover discovery I think . I’m sure mr duck will correct me if I’m wrong

Quite correct. It is. Which is rather peculiar because they use AW eight speed autos in the diesel Touareg, Q7 and Cayenne. ZF in the petrol ones though.
Why? Lord knows.

Nissan use the Jatco seven speed automatic in the Navara. The Jatco JR712E, or it might be the 10E or 11E, not shure which, dependant on torque rating and their cost cutting philosophy.

Had my eye on this deal for a while , got to be one of the best deals on the go at the moment and they look really nice nicer than all the rest impo , so tempted but no sticking to my plan .

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, I think they look pig ugly and way to 'plasticy'.

It does look like a decent enough deal on the face of it though, but I think I'd still go for a 'pre-depreciated' one.

They are all plasticity truth be known , I’m quite a hilux fan for obvious reasons reliability/secondhand but their latest model the front end turns me right off them, Nissan get good name fir comfort as well.

Really? I think they look the most work like out of all of them, there were a few white ones in Bicester village though with kids hanging out of them.

Eastern western nissan have good deals @Hilly all listed on their website.

On my second Navara NP300 now first was a manual n-connecta which never really had any problems was reasonable on fuel had on numerous occasions mid 40’s never below sub high 20’s but never really towed just a lot of running around and short journeys left with sub 40k miles though but I’d worn the stop start button letters off. Current one is an auto tekna 8month old pre the few upgrades they’ve done. It is worked hard around 700-900 miles a week minimum tows regular heavy weights right up to full 3.5t and with a lot of off roading, fuel is mid 20’s on average with adblue fill up every few thousand miles.
Few points worth noting it is average off road with discovery’s also on the fleet it gets stuck long before a D4 even starts to sweat. Towing it is fantastic for a pick up but due to the nature it will eat back tyres if a lot of starting from standstill on banks etc and try not use 4wd if can help it starting off as under load the transfer box will not release the front axle or will go with a Big Bang my manual was same and from experience Nissan can be hard work on warranty work if blame can be shifted. On the mileage currently im doing the ride is reasonable compared to most but I do get back ache by Friday due to the juddering from springs after the initial bump has gone. Money for what you get it is brilliant but I wouldn’t run without warranty as doesn’t feel like it’s built strong enough. The auto is good but by god it’s a crude auto best way to describe it is often doesn’t know what gear to be in like it’s trying to decide all the time compared to 6 and 8 speeds in discoveries it’s horrendous

I previously had an Isuzu 2.5 auto and would say the auto box is better than the Isuzu was, as for power and comfort it is light years ahead. On the flip side the service from our nearest franchise dealer is dismal and Nissan themselves not much better when we had a problem, however I think all manufacturers are a bit like that. Certainly LandRover are not goodfrom my experience.
As a value for money truck they are certainly good, I think I would probably buy another, especially if we had a better dealer.
Fuel economy I would rate as fairly good, better than the Isuzu that's for sure.

Power thing I’m not sure on as both the 135hp defender and same hp D3 leave it for dust both of mine have felt slow (love to remap but warranty puts me off) but then I do run a D4 privately which as we all know is other end of power for 4x4’s so could be me in honesty . I would have another don’t get me wrong as only personally feel amarok is a better pick-up but a lot more money. Gearbox wise mine regularly holds on to 3.5k revs no diesel rarely needs to rev that high regularly but the auto does hide the crap low down grunt that you notice in the manual. Modern engines are horrid though for low end pull

Cheers I’m trying to resist temptation your not helping matters lol

Maybe you should ponder on the engines that reliably blew up in the older models at about 60k miles, which was sorted by bringing out a model that snapped in half before the engines became an issue???

Then stick with a Hilux, if you’ve been happy with them?

I see you can get a brand new face lifted top of the range Nissan Navara N Gaurd with 5 years /100,000 mile warranty for just £21500. The face lift includes upgraded rear suspension, bigger brakes with disks on the rear, new seats, new manual gear box, better mpg. Sunfoof etc.

Is this the best value pickup on the market at the moment?

I am thinking of upgrading in the next few months, and always buy second hand. But this has really got me thinking! Reviews on line all seem good too.
Where and is it possible to buy at that price yet

I’m just sad that the new hilux front end looks terrible I’m not sure I could stand seeing it all the time, shame they have ruined them in my eyes.

I saw it on Facebook for that as well.
My work pickup is a 67plate hilux, I personally find it a terrible, its only got 145ish hp, and when loaded its so gutless, also find the brakes terrible. the new nav has 190hp I think.
Yea the brakes on my hl3 have never been very inspiring.

Yes, but they are the exception in the pickup market, and we were talking about the Nissan

Edit..... I am wrong above....Vw use a ZF torque converter auto and don't use the DSG box in its pickups
Doesn't the older 2litre Amarok Auto, just use the Golf engine and DSG box, like the cars

I wasn't talking about the 8peed V6 Amarok Auto
