new phone recommendations

Have been Android since day one, but recently relented and bought a 3 month old 'cast off' iphone SE 2020. I like the compact size, the camera and the bright screen. Then spent an a happy hour deleting all the Apple notifications and alert stuff that is of no use to me, this saves a lot of battery power...(y)

You must have some massive number of apps installed to fill 64GB if most of your other files are transferred to a card. I compare a 64GB memory capacity to a 6400 ton grain store; more than enough for the average grower but more is needed for those with larger yields on more acres.
It's a 32. Android phones are a bit annoying, the operating system takes a lot out of that capacity. The new phone is using 18 before start

There are so many variants of phones, especially Moto ones currently, and within a single model, that it is difficult to work out what people have unless they go into the detail. That is why it is generally dodgy to just compare prices. It needs to be a comparison of like with like.
I agree that 32GB is far too low for and Android phone even if it has an SD card storage option, because certain apps and the OS must reside on the primary memory and 32GB is too easily filled. Once that is filled with desired and immovable apps, no matter how much SD card extra storage is available, the phone is clogged up.

That seems the issue with the old one. It was working perfectly but stopped downloading any files,so attachments on emails, updates etc. Definitely an issue with how the SD card interacted with the phone but I couldn't find a way to be resolve it. Neighbour is an IT professional and he couldn't sort it either other than wiping the phone back to factory spec. Battery was starting to get weak so it got culled

Another 👍 for the Moto g series... but I swapped my g6 for a g9 plus and would say it is a little too big. Awkward to get in and out of to our pocket.
Yes, I agree that the very big phones are not suitable for active workers. I have the smaller iPhone8 but my wife has a much bigger version. It suits her because she carries it in a handbag while I resist using one of those and carry phone in a trouser pocket. The bigger the screen, the more likely it is to get damaged even while in a pocket. A 5.5 inch screen is my optimum size.
There are advantages to the bigger size if carrying them is not an inconvenience of course. My wife had hers because she was going to NZ for a while and it avoided having to carry an iPad and camera as well as a small Smartphone .

Another vote for Motorola, saw Cowabunga talking about them and my mate bought a Moto G8.

I had a Nokia Windows phone so was no longer supported and was totally baffled what to choose, so as my mate and the very wise Duck 😊 rated Motorola thought I'd just focus on their phones also didn't want to spend to much.

Really like this guy's reviews, funny and informative so I can watch them 👍

Motorola G30 review which I bought, thought it was a fair price had plenty of storage also room to add an additional SD card that I had on my old phone.
Decent battery and Android 11, may as well buy the newest as it'll be supported for longer was my thinking.

Really handy Karate chop thingy for putting torch on and camera also has an on short cut if you twist the phone fairly quickly around the vertical axis, dead simple never fails 😎

I wanted to just go into a shop and pay with the farm Debit card, so ended up ordering from Argos and went and picked up after they emailed me it was in.

For anyone that doesn't use them, I occasionally do, local shop are all very friendly and helpful.

Pay at till then they send an email receipt to your email address you've provided, on it you can click a link to ask for a VAT receipt, fill it in with trading name etc, submit it and shortly after you've a perfect VAT receipt.

Works a treat 👍😎

The only negative I meant to add was that the Moto G30 is quite heavy at 200g but you get used to it.

Having come from a Nokia Lumia at 134g I suspect they'd all feel heavy to me.

Still fits ok (with plastic case provided on) in my old cloth cover case with fold over flap I had for the Nokia but it doesn't velcro shut anymore, that said seems to fit fine in my boilersuit top pocket and weight seems to keep it in no bother 👍

Bought my daughter a Samsung. She had a choice of iPhone [10 I think] which I advised against because she was not already locked into the Apple ecosystem, the Moto and a Samsung. Just to be contrary she wanted the Samsung which was about £80 more expensive that the similar spec Moto. She's still happy and my brother still loves his Moto.
Yes I would buy a Moto with no hesitation but watch the spec. I would probably pay that bit more to buy the G30 currently but I would not want a behemoth no matter what other positive attributes. Size matters!

currently on a moto g9 play, and had a few of g series now an there great phones. i would recommend a leather case though for extra protection, just in case. I'm also a roofer so it does get a lot of hammer but i've never had 1 let me down

Have a Moto Defy 2021 64gb. So far it has been a good phone, much better than the Samsung a21 it replaced. Says it is dust, water and drop proof. Not been tested yet, but it feels sturdy compared to the Samsung. Camera might nob be as sharp, but woks fine for what I need, and had no trouble with the Dext app to load invoices to xero. All in all best phone since my Nokia3310.....

i've had a moto(lenovo) g4 for 6yrs now. a good phone, 1.5days of battery, decent camera and fairly easy to use. i bought the missus a g9 and it is way more complicated. don't know if i would go the moto route now. maybe just getting too old.

Motorola is the most popular so far.
But , they are big, and Motorola only support the phone for 2years .
Can't believe that most folks want or need the computing power that many phones have now.
Surely there's a market for a sensible pocket size, won't break if you drop it. Battery lasts more than a day or two ,
Calls text surf email. Capable of running a couple of apps job done . And is reliable.
Who uses a £500-£1000 and really needs all the computing power .
Or is it just vanity "l ve got the latest most expensive phone "
