An old reactor based on 50's/60's technology is hit by a tsunami it was never designed to withstand. Despite this there's no nuclear explosion, no deaths attributable to radiation and outside of the plant itself radiation levels are safe. Bloody good advert for nuclear I'd have thought. I heard that around 1500 deaths were caused by the evacuation though.

Looking at your forum name @renewablejohn I'm guessing you maybe have an interest in promoting renewables?

remember Chernobyl ?

If that is what you believe than the Japanese government have done an excellent job with the white wash brush. Unfortunately its not the true situation reported by the actual citizens in Japan and as in this country I would rather believe citizens than politicians.

I am not interested in promoting renewables just a farmer who makes his living out of biomass but with the ability to diversify into Solar Wind and Hydro.

Which bit of what I said isn't true?

Yep. Didn't kill many people either in the grand scheme of things. I believe hydropower alone has caused more deaths than nuclear. I'm sure someone will come up with the figures.

maybe its not the people it killed that was the problem, how many suffered cancer after? how much land is still contamanated?

You want me to look at the Greenpeace website for accurate unbiased details and facts? Seriously?

No I would much rather you look at the Greenpeace timeline and the facts listed then make your own independent research to verify the accuracy of the facts stated and reach your own conclusions. This is a far more rational approach than just accepting the propaganda put forth by the Japanese government.

Well I haven't learnt anything as far as I know from the Japanese Government. I just keep an ear to the news and keep a healthy dose of cynicism whenever I hear people making assertions when I don't know what their real agenda is.

But I'm old enough to have followed the nonsense from Greenpeace for long enough to know that they cannot be trusted any more than even the worst of Government propaganda machines. Remember Brent Spar? Greenpeace are totally against nuclear power. Why would I go to their website to learn about it?

But you still haven't said which bits of what I said earlier were wrong? Here's a reminder:
