Had some Mn treated seed last year, because it was already on only bit of seed available at time. It was just as almost dead as the untreated remainder of the field, by the time it was fit to travel with a sprayer in early April.
I would definitely not pay extra for the seed treatment.:poop:

I was considering sowing 5ha of Bazooka as a trial this year. I was quoted £620 for the seed today, compared to £480 for Cassia or Orwell (all Deter dressed).

No hybrid going in here then, going on lacklustre yield differences I've heard. Still waiting on a price back for on farm dressing round these parts.

Given access to a LGP sprayer, is Deter worth the money against BYDV, or better to go through a couple of times with Permasect or similar?

Managed to buy bazooka for £495 but only s/p dressed. £605 deter dressed but different. Supplier . Went for the s/p dressed

If using austral plus. Wear full ppe!
It's a very effective product, but horrible to use and can make you quite ill if sensitive to it at all!

Deter is an alternative treatment that will give some measure of control of wireworm. Not sure of relative efficacy compared to Austral as never put them together in same field. But certainly more pleasant to work with than Austral.

I'd like to say otherwise, the plot in the photo had a reduced rate of Deter. Bayer does say on the Deter label it 'improves crop establishment by reducing damage caused by wireworms and slugs'.

Re slugs - I would have to say that it does have some effect, definitely not 'Control' as I think that would have to be 90% effective but I have no doubt that the 30%+ growers ordering certified winter wheat are not doing it solely for BYDV and it has been in the market long enough to have been tested on farm enough.

Depending on conditions at the very least it has a deterrent effect and at the best I would say I moderate level of control.

Any suggestions for Diego replacement in the continuos wheat slot.
Also want a variety for after maize that will combine early, as field is destined for grass afterwards. Grafton seems obvious choice, but is outclassed on yield these days.

I thought you would be getting seed at cost price now ;)
Costello, Siskin, Skyfall, Graham and Shabras are all realistic Diego replacements in different ways.
